Poll question: Do you feel we are making a difference re: ABC/Disney movie?
Given that this is now Friday night, and this show is supposed to air on Sunday, I was hoping we'd hear an announcement that ABC/Disney was cancelling this "television event." Since no such announcement came today, I'm wondering how you all feel about what we've done so far.

Please issue your opinions below.

Thanks to all that have provided informative posts, shared feedback from their e-mails and phone-calls and everyone that has worked so hard on this! :yourock:

Best,
bliss :)

1. Scholastic backed off, our side of the story is out
Clinton, Berger et al got their say in ink, Brit Hume gave us a free plug and said we thought The Path to 911 was obscene -- tragic, raw reality turned into a fictionalized political football. A political ad that they attempted to claim was a documentary. Undeniable at this point.

2. Yes. We've helped publicize the lies in it, we've supported the Dems'
fight against it, we created the need for ABC's disclaimers and we got Scholastic to change their Curriculum Guide. We weren't the only ones involved surely, but we were a big part of it.

5. Great points, AZBlue!
Thanks so much for participating in my poll! I was having my doubts, after hearing the comments of the woman from Salon.com, who's on Bill Maher. She saw the stupid movie (she said it's so much worse than we think). :(

But I'd forgotten about Scholastic--that is a big deal!

7. It's a very big deal.
I've seen some on DU still criticizing Scholastic because there's a Guide at all, but I took the time to read through it and it's not only non-partisan and but it also asks students to research the events for themselves and then make their own conclusions. It even teaches that different media outlets are biased. I think that's great!

8. I agree.
Critical thinking usually isn't encouraged. I know I didn't learn much about it until a few AP classes in high-school and not again until college. That's great on their part.

Disney couldn't control or coerce them into carrying out their evil plan--that's huge! Go Scholastic!

4. According to Joan Walsh on Real Time...
... it's worse than we thought. She says that it is a finished product they just haven't places the dates and times in some scenes.

I think the whole thing is going to air unedited.

She's part of the reason I created this poll. I was a bit disheartened by her comments. :(

12. We certainly have gotten people talking.
I think only the die-hard Bush supporters will watch this and take it seriously. Everyone else who watches will be trying to pick out the lies. If anything, the film will be read as a further attempt at a cover-up by the Bush people and will end up reinforcing MIHOP/LIHOP.

16. What is with the die hards...?
I was reading some of their thoughts on another board. These people sound like they are from another galaxy. No critical thinking skills at all. If Fox says it, it's true. If Rush says it, it's true. If the Dems are fighting it, it MUST be true.

13. Sorry to say unless this POS is canceled
it will leave the impression - WHICH IS THE OBJECT OF THE GOP GAME - that Dems are weak on terror. If 43% of Americans believe Saddam was involved with 9/11 in spite of overwhelming evidence and admission by Junior to the contrary, this crapudrama will hit the mark as intended.

15. LOL--AtomicKitten...
It is a pos.

FYI-I was reading on a site I used to visit. Ironically it's a Disneyland fan board. The majority of people discussing the film seemed to have the good sense to recognize it's a fairy tale. There were unfortunately a few rabid, hardcore rw-ers that seemed to believe these were FACTS that were just witheld all this time by the liberals. :eyes:

They seemed to believe that our insistence that it not air meant there was some truth in it. While that is a scary prospect, these kind of people are so far past any kind of logic or critical thinking skills, nothing would help them.

14. well, we have succeeded in putting them on the defensive, anyway...
Edited on Sat Sep-09-06 02:51 PM by NorthernSpy
And we should continue to put them on the spot by demanding that they broadcast Fahrenheit 911 sometime between now and the election: turnabout's fair play, you know...

Not that there's any kind of ethical or moral equivalence between a documentary consisting of real-time footage of events as they happened (Fahrenheit 911), and a falsified mock-history relying on actors, invented dialogue and fictional scenes.

19. You know, I still can't believe how many think
Fahrenheit 9/11 is bullshit. Dems and Rw'ers. While reading other boards to get a sense of where the right was on this thing, they brought up Michael Moore and F 9/11, they called it a fairy tale. This was from those that are on the left and in the middle. I was baffled, as so much of what was shown in F 9/11 has been since shown to be TRUE.

Are these people just basing it on what they've heard I wonder, and not even bothered to see it themselves...?

20. We are absolutely making a difference!
Just because the Piece of Crap airs, doesn't mean we haven't had a huge impact. Other networks have been broadcasting the criticisms and exposing the lies associated with the film. The internet has been ablaze with factual information regarding the lying scum who produced the film and the lies that spew forth in the film. Our actions have energized the DNC and possibly even the Clinton adm. to threaten law suits and legislation (which I passionately hope they follow-up on).

ABC/Disney bottom feeding scum suckers will rue the day they broadcast this travesty.

YEAH, we're making a difference.

22. Thanks Bliss. I just don't know how else to respond to this horror.
I feel like I'm back in the black hole of anger I felt during and right after Theft 2000. These fascist pigs just never let up. They must be swept from the government like filth on the floor. We must take back all three branches of our government and clean up the terrible mess that's been created in this country. It's a long battle, but the People are clear that they want a change. Even with the e-voting factor, no government can withstand an outraged and energized citizenry. That's what I believe we have. Not just on DU but across this great land, from sea to shining sea.

24. I wholeheartedly agree...
some outrage is absolutely healthy and indeed justified considering these last five years.

What concerns me are those that feel there's only one way to be a Democrat. The ones that ply our board with posts discouraging people from any course of action, insisting there's one BETTER way to achieve our goals, as if people aren't capable of muli-tasking. Or as if we are all sheep like those across the aisle from us.

:hi: You have a wonderful evening. Hope to see you around!

It's weird, but I both fear and am looking forward to November. Something tells me an anti-Puke tsunami is coming!

25. Yes, I hear from other news sources that ABC emlpoyees are....
"frazzled" from dealing with all the calls, snail mail and email protesting this film. Good. The message is getting through that they can't pull this shit with no negative consequences to themselves. The trick is to make them hurt ENOUGH to where they don't do it again. I don't think we are there yet.
