My prediction for the "Path 2 9/11" mockudrama — the thing'll BOMB
spectacularly. It'll hardly be a blip on the ratings and will fade quietly into the ether, never to be heard from again, except in some bargain bin in a video store in Beaverbreath, Ohio, where it'll be purchased by a freeper to be watched with three of his freeper buddies in a wood-paneled basement.

1. I hope you're right.
I won't be watching.
I wonder how they'll judge the ratings on this one.
I hope this turkey tanks.

2. Same way they always judge the ratings — by Nielsen households. NT

7. I thought about that, but wondered if Nielsen said if no one watched
if the Repukes would lie about that, too.

A WEEK BEFORE NIELSEN MEDIA Research holds its annual client meetings, it looks like the TV ratings giant will be getting a new parent. Current parent VNU this morning accepted an offer to be acquired by a consortium of private equity firms in a deal valued at about $9 billion.

... reads the joint statement from AlpInvest Partners N.V., The Blackstone Group L.P., The Carlyle Group, Hellman & Friedman LLC, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P. and Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P.

11. As I pointed out in another thread, there are a lot of potential
competitors who would like to have Nielsen's job. Many are making inroads.

There are lots of eyes on Nielsen. If Nielsen is screwing up, they'll find out and cream them — not to mention all those equity firms you have listed who AREN'T Carlyle.

3. It has gotten great reviews
The front page of the Norfolk (VA) Virginian Pilot's Daily Break sections (entertainment) had a huge write up on how good "Path to 9/11" is!!!!! The article was decorated with a large, full-color picture.

4. Fingers crossed that you're right.
And I hope the majority of those who do watch are so sickened by what they see that they turn against Disney and ABC.

an audience for propaganda. Randi Rhodes said she'd watch it, so I will wait for her report.
