Mother with Lupus confronted by children's father

BAKERSFIELD - The ex-boyfriend of the mother who said she was dying of Lupus flew into Bakersfield Friday to confront her on allegations of lying to the community.

Bobby Ramirez traveled from Oklahoma once he discovered that his ex-girlfriend, 26-year-old Melissa Smith, was on television Wednesday looking for adoptive parents for their sons.

Ramirez accused Smith of lying about her illness and was shocked to learn the whereabouts of their children in an argument that was caught on tape.

Smith resides in the Bakersfield Homeless Center with her sons and said she wanted a home to raise them until she died of Lupus.

“I just want everybody to know that I didn’t abandon my boys,” Ramirez said. “I love them to death and she’s been hiding from me. I don’t have animosity toward her. I just want to see my boys.”

1. Oh jeez, please say this wasn't just another scam. I am sooooo sick

of liars and cheats I am becoming a total misanthrope. People, and I do mean most people, are turning out to be such sleezy pieces of shit.

My timing chain broke in the middle of Dodge Street two weeks ago. It is the busiest street in the city. I couldn't move the damn car, it would not start (obviously) and I was just almost to the top of a hill at about 70th. People sat there and honked their horns, the gave me the finger, they yelled at me. Me and my 14 year old son. I am a mid 50s female about 5'2". My son is bigger than me, but not big enough to help me push the car across three lanes and up the hill about a block.

Finally a 'hippie' who was driving a (get this) blazer with the top cut off and painted inside in psychedelic colors (Jed) and a black kid walking down to Family Fun Plex where he works (Mark) helped me get my car into the parking lot of First Christian Church.

The people in this city are damn lucky their survival doesn't depend on my good will or feelings of generousity after that experience. And people like this are becoming the rule, not the exception.

3. Here is what the doctor said:

Thursday the doctor said, “She has aches and pains in the body and the hair loss in the form of D.L.E. And again, as I said, she is under a treatment regime and is being seen by a dermatologist in the past and the blood test is all fairly stable at this time. I’m not sure where she got this idea that she’s terminal.”

People may have passed you but no one would've flipped you off or honked at you or yelled. NO ONE. And someone would've stopped and helped you sooner around here.
