U.S. Military Deaths in Iraq Hit 2,666

As of Friday, Sept. 8, 2006, at least 2,666 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count. The figure includes seven military civilians. At least 2,119 died as a result of hostile action, according to the military's numbers.

The AP count is four more than the Defense Department's tally, last updated Friday at 10 a.m. EDT.

6. Has anyone seen Iraq War Deaths mentioned at all this week on TV?

I mean at all? This been a horrific 4 weeks for US troops. In addition of course to all of the innocent Iraqis killed. I believe we are experiencing another bad news blackout. :(

8. One thing I wonder about

is how many who are not US citizens but are involved in mercenary operations and involved in private contracting (aka swindles) operations have been killed and how accurately these figures are portrayed.

And of course the figure of Iraqi deaths must be beyond comprehension.
