This is the one thing I see missing from most of the Democratic attacks about the lies of "Path to 9/11".

The lies will be easily documented, however, that is not enough.

It is time for us to start a national discussion on WHY they are lying. What complicity or negligence on the part of a right winger are they trying to white-wash or cover up by lying about what the previous administration did?

best.

They are lying because they are desperate and dying, and people wouldn't buy their ideas if sold unvarnished:

"We want the wealthy and corporations as unfettered as possible, so they can make the most money, even at the expense of everyone else. Our goal is a Third World country, where a few people live in a shining gated community on a hill, and everyone else lives in squalid shantytowns at the foot of the hill, surviving on the garbage and sewage that trickles down. But honestly, we don't really care if they survive."

This is a lot like when the communist hardliners took over in the last days of the Soviet Union. The difference is, the right's last grasp at power here is lasting a little longer because people hadn't previously realized how destructive they were.

3. Yes, we have been discussing it...

my point is that these discussions should be tied into each and every one of the tens of thousands of posts and discussions that have, and will, come as a result of the blatant, documented, and now admitted lies of "Path to 9/11".

Moving those discussions to "Why did they lie?" from "They lied!" is the real difference between offense and defense.

I am not disagreeing with your post. I am just reminding people that meaningful and accuate discussions on the topic will favor us.

As Stephen Colbert correctly puts it "The truth has a well-known liberal bias".

5. this is a serious problem Dems are having. They don't want to say WHY

they lied not just about 9/11 but the Iraq War because the answer would point above the Bushies to the oil interests they work for.

It amazes me how long most Democrats, the mainstream media, and even a lot of alternative outlets can go without saying the words "Iraq" and "oil" in the same sentence, let alone acknowledging that it was the reason for the war.

Everything else the Bushies have done has been to reward cronies. They invaded Iraq and gave the oil concessions worth tens of trillions of dollars to American companies. Do you think that would be lower on their list than fighting terrorism or spreading democracy?

And in fact, those other justifications aren't even on their list. They are window dressing to get the rubes in the tent.
