Just hit 1000 posts! DU keeps me going. After the stolen election
of 2000 and then seeing the shenanigans from FL in 2000 spread nationwide--particularly in Ohio--my husband and I became severely depressed
after the 2004 election. Many of you may recognize the posts that I've put up that we are building a house in Panama--a retirement house--because we are so fearful that the Bushies have done irreparable harm to this country.

DU, however, is what gives me hope that we'll not have to leave the country.
My husband calls me the "Queen of Ambivalence". I think it's just a testament to the fact that I haven't given up on rational discourse.
I try to see arguments from all sides. Having the DU community
as a place to go to see there are people who think like we do--all over the country--is a great comfort and source of hope.

Thanks, DU, for being there!

2. Ironic that you're going to Panama...
have you read Confessions of an Economic Hit Man?

Congrats on hitting 1000 -- I'm right behind you. A friend of mine who started at DU only a couple of months before me has hit 7000! :toast:

5. It's not certain that we're going to Panama. My husband won't
retire before 2008--so maybe we'll sell it if the Dems take control of the Congress and White House. On the other hand (there's that ambivalence), if they don't, well...maybe we'll spend our remaining years walking on the beach, snorkeling, reading books...and not worrying about the economic or political death of the U.S.

4. I'm with you. I don't know how I'd stay sane.
But I really do have to learn how to use this dang blasted infernal contraption, so that I can actually add something to the debate. I'm the last person in the world to learn how to use a computer.:dunce: :hi:
