Blake Stephens, a computer programmer from Portland, decided that the world has put up with enough bad theology. So he has made it his mission to eliminate it... sort of.
Stephens, who majored in computer science at Bob Jones University, has designed a video game that literally goes to war against those with opposing views. The game, tentatively titled "The War on Error," originally began as a class project for one of Stephens' classes at BJU. Soon, Stephens found himself deeply entrenched in a war for the theological souls of Americans.
"I wanted to bring to the attention of the common man the need for purity in our theology," says Stephens. "I figured that video games serve as a great vehicle for that."
The game, a first-person shooter style game, features action set on the Bob Jones campus. In "The War on Error," the school, long a bastion of pure and orthodox theology, finds itself invaded by open theists, liberals and those who, according to Stephens, "true evangelicals could do without."
"In the game, a player tries to eliminate the threat that each of these usurpers poses," Stephens said.
