By most accounts the gop is in trouble for the upcoming elections. All but core gop supporters are questionning our "War for Freedom" in Iraq. Soldiers are dying and the body bags are coming home;and for what reason? Unless you're a banker or CEO the economy sucks. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for the party in power. Why goodness even some of the more coherent fundies have got to realize that with their boys in power abortions are still being performed in this country, there are no student-led prayers in public schools, and the creationist movement has not overtaken evolution in science classes around the country.
Enter this 9/11 circle jerk we have going on right now.The cynic in me sees that this is a perfect way to whip repugs into a froth and keep 'em that way until November. How dare a godless liberal spit on the graves of all those who died on 9/11? How dare a godless lib defile this war for freedom? Our heavenly-appointed leader needs our support.
The gop needs to keep control in order to stave off the possibility of impeachment. Even with Diebold and ES&S controlling the elections all bets are off.

1. fortunately or unfortunately |

9/11 won't stretch to november. They'll need either a constant source of fear till then or several consecutive events leading up the vote.

2. That could very well be. |

But it certainly doesn't hurt. Even in non-election years the gop masses are repeatedly thrown red meat to keep them angry and in line to the cause.

3. ...and like every orgasm... |

...it peaks and ends in a short amount of time.
The thing is...these bastards thought that P2911 would be an earth-shattering, paradigm-shifting movie that would make a HUGE impact. If you look at the comments made by the producer, they were all salivating like rabid weasels--thinking that they had something better than Fahrenheit 9/11 on their hands. The producer said he thought this would be "the movie of the decade."
Well. They aren't getting their big push out of the starting gate. The movie has been downgraded to a docudrama and everyone knows it's a farce.
The Republicans are in big trouble. America will reject them using 9/11 all the way until November. It just isn't going to work.
HA!

And I do think the gop is in big trouble. I'd love for your idea to come true and have this country reject the repugs in the next election.

Their plan was to start with a big bang ("The Path to 9/11") and ride the wave into the elections.
Even if the movie did succeed in blowing people away and convincing some that Clinton caused 9/11 and Bush is a patriotic braintrust---2 months is a long time to ride a single spark. Their plan was ify even in the best of all possible words.
Now, their plan is foiled because this movie is a known fraud.
Everyone should be extremely pleased that we've neutered this movie. We stole their thunder. Their little "swiftboatting" attack plan has been seriously injured.
And....most importantly...GO HAWKS!! :) That was a nail biter yesterday!
