Progressive pledge: BOYCOTT ABC/DISNEY if they air Path to 9/11
It's only a few hours before ABC plans to air this partisan atrocity, the docu-drama "Path to 9/11," written by a right-wing partisan hack, directed by a Xtian fundamentalist, and plagued to historical distortions aimed to blame the Clinton administration for the shortcomings of Bush and the Republican tenure. Even worse, they are doing it to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the tragedy, and less than two months away from the mid-term elections.

Despite tens of thousands of letters requesting they don't air this monstrosity, despite the personal requests by former president Bill Clinton and members of his staff (Berger, Albright, Cohen, Clarke) and countless historians and political figures, ABC is determined to air this partisan mockery of history.

We shouldn't be surprised by the response by ABC/Disney. Of all the television networks, ABC/Disney has distinguished itself for its extremely partisan actions to gain favor from the Bush administration. Time and time again, they have made decisions that could only satisfy the requests of the White House and Republican partisans. In addition to the "Path to 9/11" atrocity, it's important to remember some of these actions:

These are only a few examples that clearly show a PATTERN. When in doubt, ABC/Disney will always try to comfort the extreme right, Republican legislators, or the Christian coalition.

Now they plan to air their insulting, distorted and partisan docu-drama about 9/11 despite the popular outcry against it. When it comes to us, ABC just won't listen, and will air their highly partisan show anyway. Even though they are making excuses for its partisanship, the TV trailers and commercials about the series clearly show they intend to blame and ridicule the Clinton administration for the tragedy. Check out the trailer here in this link.

Fine.

If that's the case and ABC/Disney airs this atrocity tonight, we should act accordingly. If they are willing to listen to the Christian coalition and Republicans when they threaten a boycott, we should do the same:

IF ABC/DISNEY AIRS THE PATH TO 9/11, EVERY DEMOCRAT AND PROGRESSIVE SHOULD PLEDGE TO BOYCOTT ALL PRODUCTS FROM ABC/DISNEY, NO EXCEPTIONS.

That means ABC and ABC News, Disney Channel, Disney movies, Touchstone movies, Disney merchandise, and Disney-related vacation spots.

They should know it goes both ways, and they are showing contempt for over half of the American population.

It wouldn't hurt to copy-and-paste that list here.
Boycott all the way, no surrender. I just read they just aired the fake-o-mentary in Australia and the UK.

This is FRAUD and PROPAGANDA at a global scale. ABC needs to hear from us.

However, we WILL NOT WATCH this partisan "MUCKUMENTARY" and will avoid ABC as much as possible at your request.

Thanks for the timeline and the excellent research.

76. If you believe in it, try to see if you can return the tickets...
they have a lot of other options in Orlando and around there...
the best is Busch Gardens which is in Tampa, but there is Sea World which little kids love that is in Orlando...Cypress Gardens which is between the two, etc. they also have Wild Waters (in Tampa, water park fun fun!)...and Clearwater Beach (prettiest beach ever!)

I would suggest calling and saying specifically that you would like to cancel, there should definitely be a way this many weeks out...it wont hurt to try, even if you cant, it gets the message out that you want to cancel and why...

and has already dumped a big load down under. Up next, the U.K. in 20 minutes. This is a GLOBAL propaganda campaign, stunning in its scope and hubris. This tryst between corporate interests and the state is the biggest trial balloon they've floated to date, egged on by their many successes in controlling perceptions and agendas.

When I see a HUGE HIT to Disney stock tomorrow, my faith in Americans will be restored. They are showing contempt for ANYONE and EVERYONE whose core values include TRUTH and JUSTICE.

The notion that ABC/Disney was/is going to air this is enough to boycott them. This is pure propaganda - the same kind of propaganda that Nazi Germany used. They are enablers and they need to be stopped.

ABC/Disney will always be on notice with me.

so fine. my 14-year-old is gonna hate not watching disney; it's about all he does watch. just tell me where to write and who to write to, so that i don't deprive him in a vacuum.

67. No problem with that here, when it's Sinclair.
Here the best news outlet we have is a Gannett owned station (same people who bring you USA Today). Otherwise it's redder than red here (Hearst-Argyle, Fox (own and operate the Fox station here), Sinclair, Curtis Media (quite "red")). Even the free media here is very conservative. The News & Record seems to be the only balanced media here and a lot of it is Associated Press stuff anyway.

Good job I still get the BBC.

Well, they are going to pay for that--spreading themselves so thin. Doing so presumes that everything with their name on it is a guarantee it will sell. BS!

77. I understand that. But it gets very easy when you think of all the dead
troops and the dead Iraqi children who will never again watch any television because of the lies told by this administration and because of the collaboration of the media.

I haven't had cable for 8 months, and like you I thought I'd miss it. I don't miss it. They called me two weeks ago to see if I wanted it back. I had intended to reinstate it in August, but decided against it because now, I'm used to not watching it and feeling like throwing something at it everytime I see the so-called 'news'.

At the Nuremberg trials, the propagandists were charged and tried also. Our media lied and is still doing so. I don't want to participate in their collaboration with the criminal admistration and whoever is behind them.

This should be a worldwide boycott. I read today that Disney makes about two thirds of its profits overseas.

Done, and I will never buy a Disney product or watch ABC until there is legislation passed restoring the Fairness Doctrine, to begin with and then instituting and/or strengthening already existing laws, that will prohibit the use of the airwaves for partisan, political purposes. I thought this was already illegal.

I was thrilled tonight when some members of my family, who voted for Bush twice, already knew that this docudrama was a farce. I thought I was going to have to convince them not to watch it, but it wasn't necessary and they don't even go online much. So the word is out and it's spreading. I hope they pay dearly for this.

80. You're pathetic!
but you're not the only one - if we can't make simple sacrifices like boycotting ABC/Disney, this country is beyond fucked! During WWII, Americans had to use ration tickets - what a bunch of spoiled fucks we've become!!!

38. ...and Oprah who is on ABC.
(should be boycotted), I know that will be a biggie for a lot of people that watch her frequently. :)

62. Ellen DeGeneris too, much as that pains me.
If Oprah Winfry isn't going to get political, then we'll have to do it for her. Too bad, because now it means we must boycott her show. Wish Oprah had had the courage to stick up for democracy and fair elections. It's good that she helps individuals, one on one, to survive, but when someone is in a position to help an entire nation survive and never lifts a political finger to do so... Money simply can't buy courage.

Here's a list of specific products and companies to boycott. These are the sponsors and advertisers on ABC.com's website:

ABC.com video clip advertisers (ads you must view prior to watching any ABC video clip):

WAL-MART
AT&T
MICROSOFT DYNAMICS

ABC.com sponsors of special content web pages (health page, financial page etc.):

CHARLES SCHWAB (all investment services and the Charles Schwab Bank)
CREST WHITESTRIPS
LIPITOR
LISTERINE

ABC.com sponsors of generic content web pages (these ads appear on hundreds of pages):

FREDDIE MAC
HSBC BANK
LAWYERSHOP.com
LENDINGTREE.com
MASTERCARD
THE NEW YORK TIMES
Newspaper
THE WAY WE WERE: REMEMBERING DIANE by Paul Burrell

ABC.com Marketplace advertisers:

AARP Auto & Homeowners Insurance
CONSOLIDATEYOURDEBTS.com
COREL WORDPERFECT X3
Word processing software
DEBT REDUCTION SERVICES Boise, ID
THE HARTFORD FINANCIAL SERVICES GROUP, Inc.
CURBYOURCRAVINGS.com
INTERCURE
Resperate Blood Pressure Monitor
LASER SPINE INSTITUTE, LLC Tampa, FL
PRECISIONROLLER.com Printers, faxes, toner etc.
STRYKER, INC. Orthopedic products and services
XPRESSTRADE.com

85. What's going on? Does anyone have an answer? The Ellen DeGeneres show
is on KTVX , ABC channel 4, at 4 p.m. here in Salt Lake City. Oprah Winfrey is on KUTV, CBS channel 2, at 4 p.m in SLC. I don't know where bliss_eternal is located, but it is curious that Oprah would be on ABC in her area when it's on a CBS affiliated station in mine, and Ellen is on an NBC affiliate in your area, but not in mine. Perhaps Oprah's and Ellen's old shows are in syndication already?

In any case, I was simply supporting bliss_eternal's post in light of the DU call for a boycott, but I don't want to be boycotting the wrong shows either.

Thanks for pointing that out, progressoid. :-)

90. Not sure how it works but I would guess that these shows are
aren't sold directly to the network but perhaps sold to the highest bidder in a particular market.

I did a quick search on Oprah's website but didn't really find anything.:shrug:

83. Getting sick of this!
With all that's going on in the world and all of the people who are suffering due to the actions of the United States, I shouldn't whine....but I'm going to anyway.

We deleted my ABC TIVO season passes yesterday and blocked all ABC/Disney stations. We'll miss some of those shows but whatever, we'll live.

But dang.....

We pay more for household items (shampoo, cleaners, etc) because big corporations aren't responsible or caring enough not to use toxins and not to engage in animal testing. And we go out of our way to find some of these things.

Sorry, but I liked some of the retailers we used to buy from.....we no longer buy from those retailers because they donate almost exclusively (or mostly) to Republicans. I miss being able to just walk into a store and pick up what we need.

I spend WAY too much time each day looking for REAL news reporting and investigative reporting. Now I know that the MSM was always problematic, but the extremes today are out of hand. Hell, we lead busy lives -- I miss feeling that I was okay if I got home from work and flipped on the evening news while we were making dinner. (I know I was always missing out by doing that, but time is time...I didn't feel that the well-being of my family was in peril before these Rethugs took over our country.)

We've got so many boycotts going now we're going to have to start keeping a list!

Sigh.......

When exactly are these assholes going to hell?

84. Demand that Iger be FIRED or STEP DOWN as CEO before boycott ends!

Whether he crafted this idea of putting this POS on the air, he ultimately looks to be the responsible decision maker in both Disney's and ABC's actions...
