Katie Couric reporting now on CBS- THE DUST AT GROUND ZERO
Edited on Sun Sep-10-06 06:45 PM by LibraLiz1973
Worthy of watching if you can

THE DUST AT GROUND ZERO - The 9/11 attack has claimed a whole new set of victims: thousands of firemen, policemen, construction and other workers who are now ill - maybe permanently - because they breathed the toxic dust on the "pile" at the World Trade Center. Katie Couric reports in her first 60 Minutes story. Kyra Darnton is the producer. This is a double-length segment.

7. Did she mention WHY????
Whitman was under orders to cover it up because NYC and the Feds were both TOO DAMNED CHEAP to buy equipment to protect the workers.

8. Christie Whitman: "People hear what they want to hear"- HOLY SH*T!
Edited on Sun Sep-10-06 06:54 PM by LibraLiz1973
"It's hard to know … when people hear what they want to hear and there's so much going on, that maybe they didn't make the distinction," says Whitman. But city officials were clearly made aware of the danger on the pile, she says.

Now shes blaming the victims... what a bitch

16. Yet unmasked workers were sent home at the Pentagon?????
Uh, excuse me? Can I ask why that wasn't enforced in NYC, Mayor Giuliani?

Understand, I have defended his actions during and after 9/11 to all comers. But now I want to know why our volunteers and employees weren't as worthy of protection as the Pentagon workers.

TELL ME.

10. Good for Katie.
It's a story we have known about in NYC for years. It's about time it got national attention, so maybe Katie will turn out OK.

25. Former EPA Head Blames NYC Officials
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/09/07/60minutes/main1982332.shtml
We did everything we could to protect people from that environment and we did it in the best way that we could, which was to communicate with those people who had the responsibility for enforcing.

28. I was there 2 weeks after the attack and vividly remember the dust
that covered everything. After just a few minutes of walking around lower Manhattan my eyes were burning, my throat was burning. My throat was irritated for a few days. I had to cover my mouth and nose with my shirt. This grey dust was all over everything. I can remember shoe stores, jewelry stores, etc. that were just covered. I could not believe that the EPA was telling people it was safe. It was far from it.

29. "The Deadliest Shirt in the World"
Hey, My journal is famous. I just Googled "the deadliest shirt in the world" and my DU journal entry is the #1 result on Google.

Read the article and see just how toxic the conditions were at Ground Zero.
