Den Haag (The Hague) is only a half-hour from Schipol Int'l Airport (Amsterdam) and close to Leiden, a college town where they have the best "coffeeshops".

Price ranges vary. The exchange rate is still good. All we need are the dates... I'm thinking 2009. Spring would be nice.

2. I'm saving my frequent flyer miles!
I plan to go business class on British Airways. I can go direct non-stop from Seattle to London in 9.5 hours, then fly from London to Schipol Airport in Amsterdam in about an hour and a half more. From there it is about 30 minutes by train to Den Haag (visited there five years ago, as coincidence would have it. Had I returned three days latter, I would have been grounded by 9/11.) And spring would be very nice.

ever hear of "Derksen Verhuizingen"?

My Great Great Grandfather founded the company...it is still in the family. We
had one hell of a 100th Anniversary party at St. Eusabius a few years back.

The Nazis did not run us out of Arnhem and the Bush Fascists will not run out of our beloved America.

Next time I get to Holland I'll pm you first. Coffee or genever?

What better way to honor the victims than to see them convicted for their crimes.

21. I'm in Germany. The Hague is about 440 km away ..we take the back ways
for the scenery when going to Amsterdam...and we stop a lot...so 6- 7 hours.(drive and stops)

And if we're making plans to be at a war crime trials for the Bush regime....I'm making the trip to such an event a celebratory one. :)

35. The turd in the punch bowl is that the US doesn't recognize the ICC's
authority. Since they insist on treating everybody equally, and we require special exemptions for our unspeakable crimes against humanity (land mines, death penalty, providing sanctuary to international criminals, etc.), we can't avail ourselves of their justice. :banghead:

39. That's the problem, many of "us" support the withdrawal because of
their insistence that the US be held to the same legal standard as everybody else. It wasn't just re:puke:s that withdrew our support. Many of the biggest, most powerful Dems were there too. I'm just pointing out, as it was pointed out to me, that the ICC is not an option (unless we are willing to get rid of the corporate Dems too).

But what the hey, I'd love to go to Holland. I'd try my best to stay, as they are the sanest nation on earth, that I'm aware of.
