• Scholastic believes that by providing students with a colorful version of the events which preceded the attacks of September 11, 2001, ABC Entertainment is permitting the future of America to choose which version of history will be taught to and by future generations.

• Scholastic will not be providing answers to objective questions prompted by any educational materials distributed in this regard. Scholastic instead has decided to refer to outright falsehoods as “important public questions” which “should be fairly discussed.”

• Scholastic has referred to the fact that there is no connection between Iraq and the events of 9/11 as a mere belief. Scholastic currently insists that The Path to 9/11 is a tool by which students can “study the background of events leading up to and following 9/11.”

• Scholastic’s Chairman, Richard Robinson, is currently invoking the 9/11 dead to justify Scholastic’s continued, unwavering support for this project.

• Scholastic and Robinson are attempting to rewrite history. The methods they are using are reminiscent of those used by Adoph Hitler and Joseph Stalin. The facts speak for themselves.

• Scholastic’s participation in this project has nothing to do with education.

I would let them stay home on the days this propaganda was to take place. I would inform the school as to the truth about their absence. I definitely would voice my objection to this crap to the school board, local talk radio and the media. This is just unbelievable!

This is what I tried to say, although your post is much more articulate and clear than my feeble attempt the other night on the "woohoo scholastic" thread. I'm litterally on over-load with outrage and am finding it difficult to form coherent sentences.

Yes, scholastic needs to be called out as loudly and strongly as we are doing to ABC and Disney. They cannot be allowed to propagandize our children in public school.

Just know that there any MANY homeschoolers out here who are NOT RightWingNuts and who are sacrificing much to provide this country with future voters who will be able think for themselves and hopefully counter the sheeple population our public schools are producing.

And a good number of us do still order from Scholastic even though we don't 'do' public school. I never will again- and I will be writing to them to tell them so.

more suited to an ad designed for emotional reaction rather than critical thought.

From what I saw, it was more of a barrage than a thoughtful representation of events. Pretty well designed for those trained on such film technique by the corporate media.

Why show a shot of a woman pouring a bowl of cereal from the bottom of a glass table with the focus on the crunchy little "O's" in the middle of discussing immanent danger with her husband over the phone?
Seemingly bizarre, but so many hundreds of the jumpy, half-second shots were designed to take you away from thought and into pure reaction, or to divert thought from the very issue at hand. Bizarre.

One had to struggle to maintain consciousness on the matter at hand and piece it into a coherent whole. This would be difficult for one not yet fully practiced in critical thought.

I find it hard to believe this piece from Scholastic is legitimate, but there it is.

How can a provable lie be considered "a point of view" and not a delusion? Will that be discussed in classrooms?

This missive from scholastic leads me further to believe that The Path to 9/11 was created chiefly to indoctrinate an entire generation or two.

I'm still wondering about that.
