Lieberman Internet site shuts off comments after problems

U.S. Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman no longer will accept unfiltered comments on the "Blog of Joe" section of his recently revised campaign Web site, a top aide said today.

Dan Gerstein, Lieberman's chief campaign spokesman, said the move came after he and others saw comments posted on the blog that were falsely attributed to them.
Gerstein specifically cited several comments posted under his own name during a debate on a thinly sourced story in a conservative current events magazine.

Insight on the News, published by a company owned by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church, reported that the White House had used big Republican donors to secretly funnel money to Lieberman's campaign committee prior to last month's Democratic primary.
