Fear itself is our enemy. Al-Qaeda may take the lives of thousands of people, but they cannot make 300 million Americans tremble with fear. They will not shake our devotion to democracy and liberty. They will not make us lose hope. Only we can allow those things to happen, and they will happen should we continue down this dark path. Those who allow fear to rule their destinies are not those who believe in democracy and liberty. Today, while you remember those who lost their lives five years ago, be strong and win the first real battle in the war on terror, be not afraid. Do not dishonor their memory by using it as an excuse to let yourself fear. Do not live in fear anymore.
