CNN screen cap: some excerpts from tonight's speech...
What in the world made you think that B*sh would exploit the fifth anniversary of 9/11? Please! He would never do that! /sarcasm

2. My thought exactly!

It's what made that snippet stick out like a sore thumb.

Plus, "...an enemy determined to bring death and suffering into our homes?" That is a masterpiece of the most cynical and calculated variety of hard selling. No exploitation there. Nah.

5. The other excerpt I saw was even WORSE!
Something like this:

"Together we will lead America into a new century of shining liberty."

I wanted to f'ing GAG! :puke:

That's not the complete quote, the whole thing was even worse.

6. Bush is obviously trying to evoke Reagan's "shining city upon a hill."
And he's associating it with the PNAC's "new century." I think they're trying to polish the PNAC's image so that we will eventually come to docilely accept their Orwellian plans for fascist world domination. These are the kinds of "products" that must be rolled out ever so slowly and fused with metaphors of the good life.

A spoonful of sugar doesn't just help the medicine go down; it can cover up the taste of poison, too.

7. You're right, of course, about that spoonful of sugar...
but at least for many of us the deceptive efforts of PNAC, Rove, and the BFEE toward cheerleading and soothe-talking the American public, tonight and henceforward, will not only fall on deaf ears but provoke downright outrage and gagging reflexes all around.

I know some will still be fooled, but these PNACkers and their partners in crime are IMO fairly well shaken up by the way things are going for them lately and may just find that their reach is overriding their grasp these days. Just as they have underestimated many Americans' intelligence and tolerance for their evil deeds, I suspect they're continuing to underestimate the furor that is yet to come their way but which is materializing in more areas every day that passes.

Their products just aren't selling so well these days, and I hope the trend continues downward at a "furious" pace!

I have a theory about why the Chimp is trying to sound "fiery" and even plain old "angry" in his most recent speeches. Has to do with the fact that I think the guy IS angry, pissed as hell that he's being called on his every lie, outed in his every dirty trick, and defied by people he thinks he is far above. Not to mention planning present and future for continued legal assaults on him personally and on many in his cadre and collaborative pools.

Yep, I think he really IS just plain mad at us all for not swallowing his every lie and smiling our approval at him....
