7. here is a sneak peep from his blog tonight.

......Sept. 11, 2006 | 3:19 p.m. ET

A special comment on 9/11

Tonight at 8 p.m. ET, “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” broadcasts live from Ground Zero to commemorate five years since 9/11.

Olbermann will offer a special commentary on how the course of the nation was forever altered by the events of that day, and by the actions of the administration in the months and years afterward.

Check out this sneak peak:

The only positive on 9/11 and the days and weeks that so slowly and painfully followed it was the unanimous humanity, here, and throughout the country. The government, the President in particular, was given every possible measure of support.

Those who did not belong to his party—tabled that.

Those who doubted the mechanics of his election—ignored that.

Those who wondered of his qualifications—forgot that.

History teaches us that nearly unanimous support of a government cannot be taken away from that government by its critics.

It can only be squandered by those who use it not to heal a nation’s wounds, but to take political advantage.

Terrorists did not come and steal our newly-regained sense of being American first, and political, fiftieth. Nor did the Democrats. Nor did the media. Nor did the people.

The President—and those around him—did that.

They promised bi-partisanship, and then showed that to them, “bi-partisanship” meant that their party would rule and the rest would have to follow, or be branded, with ever-escalating hysteria, as morally or intellectually confused; as appeasers; as those who, in the Vice President’s words yesterday, “validate the strategy of the terrorists.”

They promised protection, and then showed that to them “protection” meant going to war against a despot whose hand they had once shaken, a despot who we now learn from our own Senate Intelligence Committee hated Al-Qaeda as much as we did.

The polite phrase for how so many of us were duped into supporting a war, on the false premise that it had ‘something to do’ with 9/11, is “lying by implication.”

The impolite phrase is: "impeachable offense."

68. I struggle with that...have for a little bit now. Hate/indifference
Yet I can't call it indifference really since I do care what happens to people because of Bush's actions. So Bush's actions are a concern for me - so I'm not indifferent in that sense...but my anger has taken on a different flavor, if you will. I can type "fuck Bush" and it might seem like I'm angry...but I'm not. It's not a reaction, so to speak...more of a statement of fact...fuck Bush. I hate Bush...not a reaction...just a statement of fact.

I no longer feel one way or the other about that. Hating him I am indifferent about. I used to struggle with the word hate - it's an ugly emotion....but now? It is what it is....and what it is is just the simple truth.

if any of that makes sense

I wonder how many people could stand in the oval office and hold his ground like that.

I wonder if I could, and I'm never one to run from a good conflict.

I'm seriously impressed. Matt has woken up.

God bless whoever got to him, finally.

The emperor has no clothes.

Matt: "If the torture techniques were legal, why did you have to fly them to secret overseas locations?"

That's the real proof they k now they're skirting the law.

And the chimp almost hit him a few times. Matt was ready. He stayed totally logical and cool.

I'm impressed. really.

Usually, he isn't deserving of the word "journalist," but that piece sure shows that he has the capacity to do real news- it's just that he's not gonna do it everyday- real journalism doesn't pay (in dollars) that well now-a-days, apparently.

there was no connection between Iraq and 9/11. When Cheney told Tim Russert that "people are confused" about the issue, I said, out loud, "Yeah, because of what YOU and BUSH were telling people." I wasn't confused about it, but I know a lot of people did, and still do, believe there is a connection. Hmmm, wonder where THAT idea came from.

Anyone remember how they'd put a stiff talking head on the news who would just chew for an hour without a single graphic or break?

First, they'd confuse everyone, and then make the "news" which was written by the government at that time pure anesthesia. It was impossible to follow whatever the anchors were saying.

They're borrowing from the Soviet playbook, but it's not working too well.

73. Max Cleland Is A Great Man and Patriot. Go, Max!
Just told us * lied us into a long war, knowing it would be a long war. Then, Keith showed us a general who said Rumsfeld said he'd fire anyone who wrote down a post invasion plan because the american people wouldn't approve if they knew.

Wow. This is happening, on Oddball. The only truth on TV.

Max is saying it's a civil war. God bless him. The * and Vp and Rumsfeld have created the situation they claimed they wanted to prevent. All the justifications are lies. Time to leave.
