"Is there a backlash against stingrays?"
I couldn't believe my ears when the Fuschia Sausage, Rita Cosby, asked this question as she went to break just now.

A backlash against stingrays.

Think about that.

A backlash

Against stingrays.

Gimme a fucking break,

4. You don't want to back into a stingray.
Tell me this Rita Cosby isn't related to the Cos of pudding pop fame. He might have his own issues, but severe dumbitude isn't one of them.

"Since his death authorities say as many as 10 stingrays have been found dead on Queensland beaches.

Two stingrays were found today at Deception Bay, north of Brisbane, with their tails cut off, while up to eight stingrays were found in similar circumstances yesterday on Dundowran Beach, near Hervey Bay."

The War On Stingrays ?

I can't say anything, after my first and last jellyfish sting we had the kind of thing where a bunch of them get beached and my stepdad came back from surf-fishing to find that I'd built a Vlad Tepes kind of forest of them impaled on stakes of various beach-stick type things. "What's that?" "That's a warning to the rest of their kind!"

I was little, lol, but I never got stung again. I think they got the message.

7. This past weekend....

...I was snorkeling with my girlfriend at the excellent Red Reef Park in Boca Raton. The structure of the shoreline reef has shoulder groin outcrop from the mainbody of the reef and, as a result, a dazzling array of marine sealife. On the tip of outcrop, and especially after Florence blew by offshore, all sorts of larger marine life takes up residence for a couple of days (picture a five foot Sphyrna barracuda just hanging out and you'll get the idea - see accompanying photo).

Anyway, I was minding my own business, towing my girlfriend along the reef (she's slightly apprenhensive in the water) when all of a sudden I look down into a hole and spot this:

At which point, I, being the fascinated amateur biologist that I am, calmly pointed it out to her. Needless to say, I felt a hard tug and was literally dragged back to shore. Fortunately, after a little explanation, she got over being spooked (and frankly, I can see why anyone would be spooked) and went back in. Finally, and the point of the this story, people can be weirded out by things they don't understand and misconceptions that are reinforced by the media.

Which totally explains that moron Bush.

8. "People are saying" stingrays have gone too far
and it's up to Democrats now to come forward and distance themselves from stingray attitudes and stingray lawlessness.
