Sept. 11 (Bloomberg) -- When his minions flew jets into New York's World Trade Center five years ago today, they set off events that changed America in ways Osama bin Laden couldn't have dreamed.

Surely beyond his imagination, for example, is the degree to which the event would trigger a reshaping of America's legal landscape.

``Profound and pervasive'' is the way military lawyer, Eugene Fidell describes it.

In criminal law and international law, executive power issues and privacy matters, these are shifts that in normal times would have taken decades to occur.

2. lets try to follow the money..who benefited? certainly not Osama

what did he achieve? The world rallied around the USA. Did the Arab community rally toward Osama? No, then
the money trail became evident. Billions were to the D.O.D. billions more were assigned to Iraq, billions more went to Carlyle (United Technologies) plus billions more to all the defense contractors. Also, what about the massive "put options" why no successful prosecutions? My guess is because the FBI was told by their superiors
to "keep it secret,keep it safe"
Then we have the fake Patriot Act, stealing away our rights, we have NSA and DOD super spying programs on American citizens, the gutting of social programs, the constant corruption within the GOP,terror warnings when its needed to deflect criticism.
