When asked about the Democrat's response to the president's speech, House Majority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, said "if you listen to the Democrats, have to wonder if they're more interested in protecting the terrorists than protecting the American people. The fact is these people want to kill Americans -- they have -- and if we don't go after them they will continue to injure and kill Americans."

Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pennsylvania, took the floor after Reid's comments and denounced them.

"The very people that planned the attacks are the people who are in Iraq -- al Qaeda in Iraq -- causing that sectarian violence," he said. "Should we ignore that, I ask the senator from Nevada?"

The group al Qaeda in Iraq was actually formed after the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq and was headed by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who was killed by a U.S. airstrike June 7 north of Baghdad.

I believe what the twisted freak was pointing out was absolutely true. We (oops), made a teensy miscalculation and our highest-motives foray into Iraq has inadvertently resulted in a plethora of Al Quada folks in there. So the same people who brought us 911 (Al Quada) indeed are the same people (or a significant %age of them) that we are now fighting (or in the case of Western Iraq, have given up fighting) in Iraq.

Watch your tenses. And quit dwelling in the past. "Mistakes were made." We are where we are. Let's not get bogged down in the blame game; blame is futile. Let's look forward. We are in Iraq, and so is Al Quada. Let's give'em hell.

Let's try again. Twisted boy Santorum is skipping over the inconvenient fact that our invading Iraq not only provided a tempting opportunity for Al Qua ida to attack us there, but also provided convincing arguments to breed new members of the organization throughout the ME (you know, because after bombing the crap out of the country, killing 100,000 or so innocent people, torturing prisoners, and screwing up the reconstruction by letting billions of dollars go into the pockets of the thieves and liars who were in charge). Now he wants to argue that it's all water under the bridge, and Al Qua ida is flourishing there now; so we need to stay and fight them. As if we're going to suddenly get it right. As if our presence there isn't like trying to get rid of ants by strewing sugar on the floor.
