To me, one of the most telling moments came when President Kerry and Selected Bush were asked to say something nice about the other one. Kerry said that Bush had two nice (lovely?) daughters. Bush said something to the effect of, "yeah, but I wish I could control them more." Kerry responded, "I've learned not to do that." Kerry trusts his children, his relationship with them, the way he raised them. Bush does not.

Democrats: We trust the American people. We trust them with the truth. We trust them with the facts.

An open society trusts its people. It values honesty, the facts and recognizes that the truths of this world emerge from arguments among friends.

And you're right, it is a good example of Democrats' willingness to trust the American people.

I think that is the ONLY way a citizen is shown respect and trust - give them the truth they need to make sound decisions AS citizens.
