American Airlines Considers Pulling Ads From ABC + Is Mulling Legal Option
American Could Pull Ads From ABC
September 12, 2006
By Richard Williamson

DALLAS American Airlines is prepared to pull its advertising from ABC in order to protest its portrayal in the network's recently aired movie The Path to 9/11, according to a source. The carrier also said it is considering legal action against the network.

American officials declined comment on the possible withdrawal of ads, and ABC representatives could not immediately be reached for comment on any facet of the situation.

The airline spends $25 million annually on broadcast TV ads; it could not immediately determined how much is spent on ABC, but according to one source, "It's extensive."

Roger Frizzell, vice president, corporate communications and advertising, American, confirmed that the client is mulling its legal options.

1. Please Write to American Airlines and DO ENCOURAGE
them to pull ads from ABC. It's the ONLY way that will teach them a lesson.

3. I hope they pull their advertising AND sue.
Maybe some of these partisan dipwads will at least learn to do a little fact-checking before they drop $40 million on a bogus crapudrama. I hope AA sues the pants off them; I'd be tempted to sit in the courtroom and cheer for their lawyers -- and I work for a competing airline. Go, AA!

7. US Air would probably make up the difference for being let off the hook.

The connecting flight from Maine to Boston was US Air, iirc.

(They probably stayed at the Bush compound at Kennebunkport before leaving.)

11. Go for it American...crush them, grind your heels. No more ABC...
Why shouldn't they be sued? They're a pack of liars and they did it with foreknowledge. They are
the lowest ever. This is like that Halloween movie, V or something, where the Druids conspire to kill
a whole bunch of revelers at one through a television commercial.

This is mind murder and it's obscene. Anyone who can settle the score, should. Hope American gets
the nastiest lawyer on the planet and just happy stomps Disney into bankruptcy.
