Jon Stewart after 9/11
From a time when "subliminable" wasn't a punch line.

2. That was amazing.... it sent me right back to
my feelings in the days after 9-11.

Jon Stewart is an amazing person....

"From my apartment the view is now the Statue of Liberty"

Amazingly powerful!

4. Stewart incredible as always
That was so powerful. And we did bring out our best then.

Now look at us five years later. There's still a hole, the lives lost are used to create fear and garner votes, and Bush and Co. squandered all the positive that came from the tragedy.

5. Wow. That's actually really depressing in context...
because it brings the sense of community and the resolve we had in those days into such sharp focus. We had more hope then than now. Imagine what we COULD'VE done with that collective strength of spirit. Bah.

Jon rocks, though.

I'm crying ... not only because I'm remembering the loss and the grief, but because I was just reminded of how "together" we all were. Our huge country was suddenly a small community and we were all in it together. * had the opportunity to use that feeling to accomplish something great. Instead, he chose to to use that sense of community to seize power - and then used that power to divide us. What a waste.
