Iran Wishes Establishment of Full Security in Iraq TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stressed that all the aids and assistances Tehran has and will extend to Baghdad aim at helping to the restoration of full security and reinvigoration of the government in Iraq.
Speaking to reporters in a joint press conference with the Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki here on Tuesday, President Ahmadinejad praised efforts of the Iraqi nation to establish a permanent popular government in that country, stating that Iraqis have made long, arduous efforts to achieve such a success.
Describing the two countries' age-old relations as historical, he reiterated that the two nations' ties go far beyond simple neighborly relations, and reminded that Iranians and Iraqis also share many commonalities in their extensive cultural, religious, sentimental and family ties.
"Therefore, we deem Iraq's progress, independence, prosperity and territorial integrity as those of our own," the President stressed.
