Apparently fewer international tourists are visiting Disneyland bacuase of the US' image worldwide and general hassles getting into the country:

I'm not sure if whatever considerations they no doubt earned from airing the administration propaganda exercise with make up for the lo$$es they're taking here. Coudn't have happened to a nicer soulless corporagtion. :P

Tourism in S.W. Florida has taken a nose dive and it's the working class people out of the jobs. So I wouldn't gloat to much.

I come from a UAW family, you don't have to tell me about the auto industry. Just remember Florida is not 100% red. It can be argued that it's not even 50% red.

6. True, this isn't a ha ha Disney moment, this is a screw you if you work

hospitality in the U.S. moment.

I'm part of a hospitality family that has seen drastic changes since the Bush admin has ruined America's reputation around the world. Anyone can gloat if they choose, but the reality is that many decent citizens all over America, not just in Florida, who chose a valid career path/industry (maybe it's more valid if you live outside of Florida?), have been adversely affected by governmental choices that have deterred foreigners from visiting the U.S.

12. Southern California, too...

Disneyland in CA was hurting prior to this past year's 50th Anniversary celebration. They struggled quite a bit after 9/11. They also had a hard time getting visitors here when they didn't have a lot in the way of new offerings. Florida's resort kicked California's butt in that regard--they had more going on.

I imagine things will slow down again soon, with school being back in--the 50th festivities coming to an end, etc. The resort will return to being primarily populated with locals as the daily guests.
