Even after all this time I still find it hard to believe or accept that people like this exist in America. The caller rants about communists and "godless Sodomites" in a way that is like a parody of itself (she begins by asking him what comedy club he is calling from). He also calls Steph a "happy harlot".

Where do people like this come from? How do they get this way? What are they like to live with? Does this guy represent that rock-solid 25-30% that would support Bush if he ate live babies on TV?

edit: typo

1. K&R
OMG, they should pay that guy to come on the show. At one point, he called her a somethingorother of deprivation. She says he overstimated her life if he thought she was a happy harlot.

Classic!

3. They come from sexually repressed families.
Seriously... I can't help but think that's the case. Notice his focus on sexuality? These people are raised super-religious where sexuality = EEEEEVIL and it twists their poor minds.

Really sad...

I might be wrong...I have worked with wingnuts that are about this bad, revalations and visions included. I think fundamentalism is cheaper than antipsycotic medications.:sarcasm:

Did you listen to the clip? The guy sounds totally sincere (and totally like Zell Miller). If he's a ringer, my hat is off to him, whoever he is.

If that wasn't the guy who did his voice, he should be making money as an impersonator.

Still these people are real. We had a busload come from Milwaukee bearing large signs of aborted fetuses. My 4 and 6 year olds were horrified by the pictures. I had them removed from the front of my store.

They are out there, they are real, and they are coming for you.

22. Fraid not... that was the real deal.
I've heard nut jobs like this at work, and boy was he at work! A genuine tent revivalist.

And didn't you just love that cute "authoritarian way" he kept scolding them for interrupting them? "Don't interrupt me! Let me finish!" He got that from Dubya.

But you're right, I wouldn't want to believe it is true either. That this guy is a fact and represents a part and parcel of our population is indeed a hard pill to swallow. You should be scared. :scared:

That guy's whole spiel was totally cartoonish. If he was serious, I AM scared, because it sounded to me like a parody. Then again - I'm in a blue state, where religious nutbags like him are somewhat fewer and further between.

I'm not sure a real "theocrat" would say they went to the school of "theocracy". That fits our vision of their mindset to well for their tastes I think.

But I tell you I DID hear some pretty lame theocrats on a pirate radio signal that looked to be trying to push Air America on KLSD's frequency off the air for listeners like me on my way home from work last night through Rancho Bernardo here in San Diego... Those guys were up and down about coming Armageddon, etc. too.

I'm thinking of calling up KLSD to track those f'ers down. It was during local host's John Elliott's show who's been filling Mike Malloy's slot on Air America the last week or so.

Speaking of Mike, when "Gollum" called him, he sounded pretty legit too! :)

I've heard guys talk like that as well... so I can't so easily discern it as a joke.

There probably are a few nutballs there who would say this kind of stuff and actually believe it but
I think this one was satire. It for sure wasn't extemporaneous...pretty funny stuff! :silly:
