However I do not use an online petition. I have people send emails to the Speaker of the House and the Senate majority leader

and I do not plead for what I want. Pleading for what you want makes a petition useless.

I do something different. I tell GOP contributing companies that UNLESS you get the GOP controlled congress to enact some needed legislation into law, you will lose our business and alot of money.

What CEO wants thousands of people emailing him or her telling him or her they will lose business?

So please look at my set of demands which you can copy and paste and send them to these GOP contributors and email them using the web forms and email addresses.

Petitions without demands threatening boycotts appear useless, I agree but my petiton appears useful to the degree to the number of people who send them. Consider this a citizens referendum on legislation that you don't have to put on the ballot and you don't have to wait for Democrats to get elected because the real government sits in the suites of companies that have donated money to these Republicans.

Thank you for reading this. The Disney boycott failed because the movie got sprung on us very quickly but this boycott we can do year round until the GOP donors capitulate.

Go to http://www.dmocrats.org where you can send this list of demands to these companies and the speaker of the house and the senate majority leader. You can vote once every 2 years for representatives and every 6 for senators but you can wield the power of your purchases every day.

3. don't send email
send a real, honest to goodness letter. the basic calculus is that one email represents about half a voter, a phone call five voters and a letter 11. seriously. someone has to open it, read it and file it, if not respond. emails are easy to hit that little 'delete' button. paper letters show you really care, and they know it.

4. I disagree. I'm not pleading. I'm demanding.

Most petitions ask for something and do not withhold something. The people that send emails will no longer buy their products.

Boycotts destroyed the British in India, the national party in South Africa and it can put the Republicans subject to our demands in America.

Also there does appear a section for people who live in Illinois to make phone calls to the speaker of the house making some of those demands so yes I make it easy for people to call them and demand an increase to the minimum wage and repeal of Medicare Part D and a replacement for it.

6. I don't take the same view as everyone.....
The bottom line is money talks. I think the most effective thing I can do other than vote and ocassionally write my congressman is to contribute to organizations that are fighting for my beliefs. These include moveon, ACLU, and planned parent hood. Now obviously I am no major contributor just a few dollars when I am able, but this is best I can do for now.

5. No company is going to take such a request seriously...
You're basically asking them to be an advocate for you on political issues, which is a big waste of their time and yours.

7. I respectfully disagree that it appears a waste of time.
These companies give money to the GOP. The government functionally sits in the company suites of these companies and the agents of selfishness and greed do their bidding.

No company wants a boycott of their products and if thousands of people contact them they will have to sit up and take notice.

I agree if one just asked for what we wanted but did not threaten a boycott then that appears useless.

8. Boycotting is fine...
Demanding that a company demand the government does A, B and C because thier donors is a waste of time.

Besides how are you going to know if Coke/IBM/Wal Mart/whoever was the reason a certain piece of legislation was enacted? The last thing we should want is for them to take credit for any kind of success if they weren't behind it.

9. Yes the object of this exercise involves forcing them
to go to the GOP to get this legislation enacted into law. Republicans and their donors only understand money and that's what thoussands of people should do, hold them accountable and tell them we boycott until that legislation gets pased by the congress.

These companies have a relationship with the GOP.

10. They won't do it
You're wasting your time. Focus that energy into more effective campaigning for Democratic candidates, or just straight up boycott those companies, take that money you would've spent with whichever company you're boycotting and donate it to a Democratic candidate or cause of your choice. Yoiu're return on investment is bound to be much greater.
