I'm more concerned over a foiled terror attack
than a real attack, especially one that is shown to be fake next spring when it's too late. An actual attack is no good for the chimperor* it wouild prove that we really aren't safe, a foiled attack on the other hand would be a feather in their cap.
They could say see we told you so, they do want to kill you, but we stopped them.
Just enough credibility to get the sheep to draw closer together and bleat to keep us safe, that's the October suprise that worries me.

2. I'm not so sure...
I understand your logic... however, the latest "foiled plot", of the ten hijacked airliners, didn't seem to help the ratings of the prez or the GOP. I think the people may have awaken to the "terra" BS. I hope at least.

6. No bigger than that
Something with just enough credibility, close enough to be effective to make the circle draw together.

7. A foiled terror attack doesn't sell soap
It just won't have the impact with the public without the images of death and destruction. They need something BIG, and something that instills fear in the public pysche.
