Americans Who Tell the Truth

Walt Whitman

This is what you shall do: love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to everyone who asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown.” (Preface to the 1855 edition of Leaves of Grass)

Sojourner Truth

21. You show us a picture of your hero
giving his concession speech? Not very heroic. I'd probably have had one of him saving that guy or something. Not to judge. Heroism is subjective.

20. Firefighters
They are the true heroes of America, who make me proud, they give and risk their lives for others, without regard to political affiliation, race, gender, income, with absolutely no discrimination what so ever, and certainly not for the money. They are always doing charitable work. They remember 9/11 for what it was, (A tragic loss of life, and an awesome display of heroism, that brought out the best in so many, while they were hurting so bad ) without making it a political event for either side. They fly the American flag on their trucks, because they are true patriots, and epitomize what Americans should strive to be. I know there are firefighters all over the world, and they are all special, but our's are the greatest, and I admire them all. Other than complaints about communication on the fire ground during 9/11, have you heard any of the blaming anyone else for what happened to so many of them? They will give their all, including their lives, for all of us, there isn't a politician, and very few people who are so selfless.
