I just had a complete meltdown. Rarely watch local news, but here comes this bit called "The New Iraq". Which was about how many people died over there today, and who, and how.
Just sent this to their news desk:
Dear Sir or Madame,
I just had your 5pm news on, and one of the segments was called "The New Iraq". Why on earth would you put such a sparkly, good-news spin on such a bloody, lethal, horrific battle zone this country has become? On Sept. 12, 2001, did you air a segment called "The New Manhattan"? What was Biloxi on Aug. 30 2005 for you: "The New Gulf Coast"?
"The New Irag"? Oh, I understand, the new mangled bodies, the new IEDs, the new horrors every human being in Baghdad experienced today, okay, never mind, ignore this letter.
Sincerely, SDD
(thanks for being here, DU. can't make it without you)
