Here's something I've wondered about freepers' powers of discernment:
Most of us know, or have known, someone--a friend or acquaintance or family member--who is an arrogant delusional bully. I have known people like that, and George W Bush reminds me of them. If you know someone like that, how could you look at that smirking face and not see the similarities? And if you know someone like that, would you want that person to make decisions that affect your life, your children's lives, and your grandchildren's lives? I mean, if you couldn't trust an arrogant, delusional bully in your own personal life, how could you trust this man?

As we know from history, even madmen rise to levels of great power. Why is it so hard to believe that it has happened again, especially when the evidence is standing right there in front of you?

Are freepers THAT naive?

He's a thief. All of his appointments will be negated before this vote thing is finished. http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0225-05.htm

2. It's not naivete, it's childlike fear.
They NEED that arrogant bully to tell them what to do, how to feel, what to think, how to vote. They can't function without a figure like that in their lives, so they make sure there is one as best they can.

5. you hit the nail on the head
and they cannot fathom that the USofA could make a mistake or that the leaders could be wrong, because if they accept that premise, then what can they believe in?

It is a very childish need to believe in something that has control and can protect them, not realizing that they are the ones that have the control if they would just start exerting themselves and trying to do for themselves.

4. EXACTLY...
They live vicariously through Bush. He does and says all the antisocial, twisted, violent things that freepers only wish they had the balls to carry out.

6. So they're either fearful victims, or
bullies themselves. One or the other. Or both. That makes a lot of sense.

But, being neither of those things, I have a hard time relating.

I'm glad there are more of us than them!
