Strength Through Division
It is a cynical person indeed, who believes he is stronger if he can divide the people rather than attempting to unite the people. He believes that no matter what the issue, he can garner enough support to divide the nation into camps. Even on issues as unpopular as torture and spying on Americans, he can convince enough of the people that he is doing it to "protect" them. And there will always be enough gullible people to divide the nation. The easiest way is to divide people by political persuasion. If you can convince enough people of the evil in the other side, they are apt to believe anything...
