GOP IS After Rosie O'Donnell Big Time
Edited on Sat Sep-16-06 09:41 AM by leftyladyfrommo
This is what happens when someone actually has the guts to say what she believes. She needs our help! I wonder where we can e-mail her? Anybody know?

This is as bad as the Swiftboaters. Maybe worse.

This is what happens when you kissed Bush's ass so much and he got tired of you!

29. She sure kissed Bush's ass after 9/11
Click the link and see how Rosie slobbered all over President Asshole!

http://www.eddriscoll.com/archives/001594.php

Talkshow host and ardent Democratic activist Rosie O'Donnell stunned Los Angeles radio listeners Thursday morning by declaring she's changed her opinion of President Bush.
"I love him now!" O'Donnell told KRLA-AM's Dennis Prager.

O'Donnell said she even got to Yankee Stadium an hour early for a World Series game so that she could videotape Bush!

'I brought a videocamera and my six year old son and no security so that my son could see the president," said O'Donnell.

"We left at 6 o'clock in order to do that. And since September 11, I have had nothing but accolades for the job he has done for this nation... I am in full support of the President."

O'Donnell added: "Honey, I love him now! He is our President. We are at war."

That translates into being a full-blown Bush supporter?!

34. she freaked out after 9/11 (completely understandable, IMO)
like most of the country, she expressed support for bush as a leader and protector in the weeks following 9/11. Apparently, some people hold that against her (and the rest of the 90% of the country, I guess).

But, of course, your statement that she is a liberal Democrat is completely correct.

18. I think the person posting must be remembering her performance
after 9/11. She got all emotional and declared Bush was "her Commander in Chief."

I was disgusted by her behavior at the time, but remember laughing, wondering what had ever happened to "Don't ask, Don't tell. "

I hadn't paid much attention to her before, and none at all after that.

From what others are saying, I guess she's come around and gone AWOL on "her" Commander in Chief.

As an aside, when will Americans learn that any president is "commander in chief" only of the armed forces, and ONLY the armed forces. Jeez!

Such knee jerk reactions allowed the so-called Patriot Act to be passed and the Constitution to be shredded.

After two hundred years, it took only 19 foreign civilians armed with box-cutters and the subsequent cowardly panic of our citizenry (including "leaders" who should have known better) to strike a death blow to the Republic.

20. NO... Rosie, after 911 tried to give Bush* benefit of the doubt...
Edited on Sat Sep-16-06 10:05 AM by hlthe2b
She toned down tremendously and tried to show support at a difficult time. Now, the more cynical or realists among us (including myself and much of DU) saw through Bush* and his exploitive tactics immediately and refused to bow down to him, no matter the accusations of being "anti-patriotic."

But, in reality, many leftists did, as Rosie did--gave him the benefit of the doubt (he ultimately did NOT deserve) despite her previous strong opposition to him. To an extent Randi Rhodes did so, as well. She admits that when she expresses her wonderfully pointed commentary about how Bush* squandered so much good will...

Rosie was never a Repug. She simply tried to put aside differences for a time. And yes, it infuriated me too, to hear her defend Bush*, but I can assure you that that was short-lived.

Rosie is a sincere and dedicated progressive... She deserves our support.

I don't think Rosie has ever been conservative - remember when she got into it with Magnum PI over gun control? He is very conservative.

I didn't care how she handled that situation - she should never have had him on her show and she should not have attacked him the way she did.

But she is not a conservative.

31. Sometimes we (libs and progressives)
can be every bit the "purists" as far as ideology as some on the "right." Look at how quickly we can go from sending Barbara Boxer flowers in appreciation, to excoriating her for her pre-primary (tepid, but personal) support for Lieberman. Now, that latter stance infuriated me, too, but rather than chalk her off, I wanted to get through to her and make her realize that she was misguided...

People say stupid things sometimes and can sometimes take the wrong stand. As hard as it can be sometimes, we do need to look at the long term patterns, rather than a single statement or action.

Fortunately, we on the left are generally not afraid to re-assess and correct an opinion when mounting evidence shows us to be wrong....

46. I've always wondered why some outspoken Libs/Progressives
are such a target for anger/disdain/hatred among the RW, above all others. Even more puzzling, is that these same "mega-targets" often elicit almost as much criticism or antipathy among some on the Left..

So, now, what is it, that might be the common factors? Let's compare just two-- say, for instance: Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donell:

Outspoken? Check
Direct (unafraid to call a "spade" a "spade?") Check
Extremely critical of Bush* and the RW? Check
Successful? Check
Intelligent? Check
Articulate? Check
Celebrity/"Hollywood connections?" Check
Baby Boomers? Check
Willing to put money towards political causes? Check
Speak out on multiple hot button issues? Check
Strong following of supporters? Check
At times previously critical of Clinton/Gore? Check
Advocate limits on assault weapon sales/limited gun control? Check
Advocate homosexual rights? Check

Now where are they dissimiar?

Both Gay or homosexual? NOPE
Both associated with NYC (born & raised & long residence) Nope
Both "bitchy, aggressive females?" :sarcasm: NOPE
Both have children? NOPE
Both hang out with Madonna? Nope
Both prize-winning documentarians? Nope

Hmmm..........
One more similiarity comes to mind:

Both (unapologetically) overweight/obese? Check

I wonder.....

40. say what she believes? "The moment from Rosie's debut today...
"...that peaked our interest was an anecdote she apparently told about bathing her daughter, who asked her, “Mommy, when will I get fur?” Leaving aside one's own personal issues about parent-child nudity..." http://www.queerfilter.com/posts/keywords/rosie+o+donnell

look, some of my dearest friends in this world are G/L, but these are strange days, and if you do not think that the 'swift boat gang' is capable of swift-boating a ham sammich...you would be seen as wrong

44. And that is why..
... someone sometime is going to have to stand up to them in a court of law and make an example.

I actually think that in some cases, jury nullification (jury deciding against the SB type crap even if technically is it not illegal, just wrong) could be sought and won.

People know right from wrong. It's one thing to express a negative opinion about a public figure. It is quite another to develop an organized, systematic smear campaign based on mostly objectively false claims.

56. wah wah republicans, did Rosie hurt you?
republicans are pathetic little weasels. Rosie isn't running for public office and they still feel they need to slam her.

59. Pope disses Islam. Rosie disses Christianity. This is not news.
And this doesn't matter at all.

What matters is how our government lies and murders, and what we're willing to do about it.

That's what they always do. She voiced her opinion, that's not a crime and I doubt voters will even take her opinion into consideration.
