Rosie O'Donnell is one of a handful of celebrities who
(a) Consistently speaks out against Bush and his failed policies
(b) Consistently gives money to democratic causes
(c) Consistently tries to help people in need
and yet there are many here who don't like her & seem to enjoy attacking her at every turn.
I understand that you can't like everyone all the time and that is fine. But is it necessary to attack her?
What has she dont personally to you that makes you hate her so?
I'm really surprised more of you aren't actively trying to support her. Much like Keith Olbermann, Rosie is trying to shine a light on the injustices that the Bush admin takes part in every single day. Aside from her blog (www.rosie.com) she now is back on TV talking about this stuff. And are we supporting her? It would appear not.
The other night I saw some of Scarborough Country- he had some fruity guy on calling for a massive boycott of ABC for showing The View. He was instructing people to call, write and email demanding her termination by next Friday. Scarborough said people should call and demand that she be held accountable for her comments.
This is what Rosie said that started the fury:
ROSIE O‘DONNELL, “THE VIEW”: We were attacked not by a nation. And as a result of the attack and the killing of nearly 3000 innocent people, we invaded two countries and killed innocent people in their countries.
Elizabeth Hasselbeck: You understand that the belief funding those attacks, OK, that is widespread. If you take radical Islam and you want to talk about what is going on there you have to .
O‘DONNELL: One second. Radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam in a country like America where we have a separation of church and state. We‘re a democracy.
Hasselbeck: We are not bombing ourselves here in the country.
O‘DONNELL: But they are bombing innocent people and other countries, true or false.
Behar: But Christians are not threatening to kill us.
O'DONNELL: ....Iraq and Afghanistan never threatened to kill us. Ever.

Scarboroughs comments on O'Donnell on Wednesdays show:
...."And I want to make a personal comment. Because I agree with Jennifer that extremists in any religion are dangerous. And I saw extremists up close and personal in Pensacola, Florida and it is frightening. Anybody that uses God as an excuse to kill other people who do not believe like they do either politically or religiously are dangerous.
But to try to put some sort of equality—some sort of balance between the threat that radical Islam causes to this country and radical Christianity is an absolute disgrace. ABC needs to apologize. Rosie O‘Donnell needs to apologize.
And if she does not back off of her statement, she needs to be forced from “The View.” That is not free speech. That is lunacy. And it is dangerous and it spreads hatred."

http://www.bpnews.net/bpnews.asp?ID=23986AFA calls on ABC, O'Donnell to apologize for comments

Baptist Press
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)--A prominent conservative group is asking Christians to contact ABC and request an apology and a reprimand after "The View" co-host Rosie O’Donnell compared "radical Christianity" to "radical Islam" during the Sept. 12 program.
"O'Donnell was saying there is no difference between the radical Muslims who kill in the name of Allah and Bible believing Christians who follow the teachings of Jesus," a statement from the American Family Association says. "Neither O'Donnell nor ABC apologized for the comments. Had she made similar comments about minorities or homosexuals, there would have been an apology and she would have probably been fired.
AFA concluded that the "message from ABC is that bashing Christians is acceptable, even comparing them with murderers who kill in the name of Allah." The organization asked conservatives to e-mail "ABC asking for an apology and a reprimand."
O'Donnell, who joined "The View" this season, was discussing President Bush's address to the nation delivered on the fifth anniversary of 9/11.
"We were attacked not by a nation," she said. "And as a result of the attack and the killing of nearly 3,000 innocent people we invaded two countries and killed innocent people in their countries."
Moments later she added: "Radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam in a country like America where we have separation of church and state. We're a democracy."
Elisabeth Hasselbeck, another co-host on the program and a Republican, responded, "We're not bombing ourselves here."
O'Donnell retorted, "But we are bombing innocent people in other countries. True or false?"
Another co-host on the program, Joy Behar, then said, "But Christians are not threatening to kill us.... There's a difference."
O'Donnell's comments sparked a strong reaction from conservatives on Internet weblogs, radio and television.
"Apparently Rosie believes that the federal government is a branch of 'radical Christianity,'" Scott Whitlock of Newsbusters.org wrote. "...
as she never heard of World War II and the innocent civilians that unfortunately died in the struggle against Nazism? Was that war wrong? ... erhaps Ms. O’Donnell is unaware of exactly where the Taliban trained and plotted."
On MSNBC's "Scarborough Country" Sept. 14, two hosts defended O'Donnell's comments by labeling abortion clinic bombers as "radical Christians." But host Joe Scarborough said the last abortion bombing was in the 1990s.
"e're talking about Rosie O'Donnell saying that Christian extremists are as much a danger as Islamic extremists, and The New York Times just reported a few months ago that Muslim radicals killed on average 110 civilians every day, on average, in Iraq," he said. "That's 110 people killed every day not by American bombs but by Muslim extremists. And if you add up all of the people that have been killed by Muslim extremists through the years ... there's no proportionality."
