My local theatre won't play" US vs John Lennon"
I live in red state country and even I was surprised when they did this. I e-mailed the manager and asked her if she was playing "JESUS CAMP". I haven't got a reponse yet.

1. We recently got a new theater in town and I was so psyched
I figured I might finally be able to see some off beat movies in town from time to time. Instead the other theater closed. Now I am actually worse off in that the first theater did show some good films on occassion. Now it is all teen fare all the time.

2. Jesus Camp is in many ways like the Nazi film "Triumph of the Will"

4. isn't this movie just a compilation of archival footage
interspersed with new interviews with relevant people?

i'm a REALLY big fan of archival footage BTW.

we could use some of john lennon's naivete nowadays. his innocence highlights how cynical this culture has become.

6. it all comes down to $$$$
depending on where you live (like small town/rural/extremely red) there are ASSLOADS of interesting movies you'll never get to see that routinely play in larger markets.

7. We had a similar situation - local theater refused "Broke Back Mtn"
And for such a conservative area, got a surprising number of protests about that decision.

It seems that even many conservatives do NOT like to be told what they can and cannot see.
