AAR- I apologize, but....
I have been out of town for 10 days and no computer. Any word on the final broadcast schedule to begin this coming week?

I know Sam, Randi, and Rachel's new shows, but what about the rest- 5AM to 9AM, 8PM to.....

Thanks for any info. I'm sure this is on this board somewhere, but pages and pages down probably.

2. What's Sam Seder like?
On a scale from Jerry Springer = 1 and Mike Malloy = 10?

I was hoping they'd get Tom Hartmann.

Do you think Springer wanted to leave?

6. IMHO - 9+
He doesn't quite have Mike's ability to have a nookulur (lol) meltdown, but he is very passionate, well informed and a scrapper.

I just wish he was paired up with Marc Maron.

THAT would be a kick-ass show. :headbang:

13. Maron's going to be on Sam's show?
Hot damn. :bounce: I hope Lawton Smalls and Sammy the Stem Cell drop by. I miss Lawton Smalls so much I could do his crying voice.

I also adored the Liberal Confessional and Right and Early where Marc would turn into a neocon radio host. "Right and Early, brought to you by Radio Halliburton."

He inspired me to get there BEFORE nine AM!

10. Not as frenzied as Malloy but better informed (IMO)
I enjoyed Malloy and appreciated his passion but sometimes found him difficult to listen to. Seder uses more facts and less hyperbole.

12. Yes, I cared about how much MM cared.
But he really is someone for just amongst ourselves, to keep our spirits oriented on the truth.

Not for general consumption, i.e. when we want to convince others. People really do discount what he has to say, because they think he is crazy. Right or wrong, you have to start with people where they are, not where you think they should be.

19. How ironic that Springer had to dance on national TV to earn my respect
I'm not sorry he's gone from the New York lineup, but I appreciate his "representin'" us by not making the tightassed apathetic fool of himself that Tucker Carlson did.

3. Here in Boston
Stephanie Miller is on AAR in the morning (9am-12noon I think). Is she being dropped from AAR?

4.  No, not Air America...
Edited on Sat Sep-16-06 04:56 PM by Towlie
I don't believe Stephanie Miller was ever on Air America. Like Ed Shultz, she's carried by many stations that also host Air America.

5. Technically, Stephanie's Boston station isn't an AAR affiliate
Edited on Sat Sep-16-06 04:57 PM by rocknation
so she shouldn't be affected (though I would love having her on in New York). The Boston network kind of "picks and chooses" the programming they want from AAR and Jones Radio, who she and Ed Schultz are associated with. I myself have been listening to Stephanie instead of Jerry Springer, but I'm a fan of Sam, too. So what I'll probably to is subscribe to her podcasts and listen to her at 1PM, when they're ususally available.

9. Errr, where's Thom Hartman?
I'm fortunate here in Portland, I get him anyway. But has AAR dropped Thom? Geez, I didn't think that I could be any more unhappy with AAR since dropping Malloy. First they ditch the most passionate voice, and now the leading Liberal academic? Jesus.

11. Mr. Hartmann's still there
He is AAR's only syndicated offering, outside the regular network lineup, so don't expect him to go anywhere.

If you ask me, I suspect if...I mean, when Al Franken announces his run for the Senate, Mr. Hartmann's show will be moved into the network lineup.

20. AAR betrays its listeners
I still refuse to listen to AAR since they fired Mike Malloy due to his passion, and the fact that he told the absaloute truth about our political reality, and that both offended and terrified the management!

23. AAR Is In Trouble - Radio in General is in Big Trouble
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/15/business/media/15radio.html?ex=1158897600&en=3ec38c17f8408ff2&ei=5099&partner=TOPIXNEWS

When Clear Channel and CBS are selling and considering selling stations, you know there's trouble. Unfortunately AAR runs on many Clear Channel stations, and if the AAR NETWORK get's in anymore financial trouble, you will see it disappear or be bought by another network and most networks are now extensions of Clear Channel, CBS, etc....

AAR is no doubt having to negotiate with the big fellas now and that calls for restructuring and unpopular decissions.

I like their new line up.
