Poll question: What price would you pay?
What would it be worth to you to have an honest, responsible government in this country (in other words, the exact opposite of what we have now)?

1. ? Why is this an either or question?
Maybe I just need more information. Why would insisting on honest voting cause a depression?

3. Not either/or. Just a measure of willingness to suffer.
Only asking how much it would be worth to you? I suspect that the answer is a LOT to many DUers.

We only lack the means to make it happen, not the willingness to suffer if needed.

4. Yes, we do. And my sense is that DUers would be willing to suffer
much more, if it would only mean a positive change. Hence, the question.

9. And that means what? (Not being hostile, just asking):
A) You'd sacrifice yourself to make that happen?

B) You'd not do that, in order to shield your kids?

Either / or is OK with me; no judgemnents here. Just asking.

8. I would hop on the FREE bus to WDC tomorrow -IMPEACHMENT
Day at Camp Democracy. I'm not completely sure yet.Have to make up my mind in a couple hours. No one else around here is going as far as I can tell.

In Durham, NC (if I am fairly sure my car will be there when I get back- not sure if I like the idea of wandering around a strange city a !AM with no way to get back to Greensboro) - I'm a bit sick and not sure of arrangements.

The pick up for the bus will be in the Northgate Mall parking lot in front of Macy's, near the Bank of America.

Directions from I-85 are:

Get off at Exit 176 (Sign says: "501 N, Gregson, Duke St, Northgate).
Keep to the right, taking the ramp for Exit 176A, (Duke St, Northgate)
Stay to the right, and turn Right into the Northgate Mall at the first light.
In the mall area, take the first left and Macy's will be on your right, and the Bank of America will be on your left.

David Dickson, the organizer in Charlotte, estimated they would be in Durham between 2:30 and 3 am.

12. "honest, responsible government.." is an oxymoron.
As soon as a governing class exists it follows Lord Acton's axiom about power. See my tagline for explanation.

18. Well, that's not an option, because who would build the roads?
Communities cannot communicate without roads.

anyway. Unless you think Cars will still be an option in 25 years...

22. I guess we just disagree but
I just do not see the benefit of the State. And in an effort to show that I am not just talking pie-in-the-sky theory here is a real world example of government sucking.

Palumbo, a construction company in Illinois built many roads around the City of Chicago and the outlying suburbs, well they were falsifying work with years and getting away with because of corrupt Government officials (the Mayor of Rosemont Illinois being the biggest one he didn't get in trouble for this case but for other cases). Of course, the problem is Palumbo still does a lot of road work around the State today...

Background on Palumbo
http://www.nhi.fhwa.dot.gov/tccc/aashto_soc_2001/fraud-palumbo.doc

http://www.ipsn.org/rosemont/default.htm

http://www.ipsn.org/rosemont/fbi_agent_mallul_stephens.htm

Sticking with Illinois, John Stroger has been kept out of the public eye so the Party would not lose control over his Powerful Seat as President of the Cook County Board of Commissioners. The reason Stroger has been kept out of the public's view is he suffered a massive debilitating stroke. Stroger suffered his stroke in March 2006 but was not removed from office until 1 August 2006 and why? Cook county has a population of 12 million and large amount of money/power was controlled by Stroger...

Here's some pre Stroger Cook County Corruption
http://www.fbi.gov/page2/march04/greylord031504.htm

Or George Ryan getting only 6 years for his corrupt 40 year Political "Career" in Illinois...

And it's been the State (combined with Industrialism) which has allowed really awesome things like: The Battle of the Somme and the Battle of Verdun.

Also I don't recall any level of Government helping New Orleans citizens over the last year. Is this just the "bad apples" in government today or something deeper such as the nature of Government itself...
