PA Woman Arrested for Rescuing Sick, Chained Dog
"Chained outside a residence, the shepherd mix lying on his side in dirt and puddles had been unable to stand for several days, they said.

A neighbor repeatedly called a Central Pennsylvania Humane Society officer charged with investigating animal abuse and neglect in the Altoona area. No one responded, the neighbor said.

So the neighbor called Tammy Grimes. Then another person called Grimes about the same dog. That’s when Grimes took action, video camera in tow.
<snip>
That night, not unexpectedly, police came for Grimes."

1. They arrested the wrong person
but calling the county animal control people might have been a better choice. In any case, having the vet document that the dog responded well to simple food and water will help make a case for neglect by his owners.

My guess is that the charges will be dismissed once they read the vet's report. She may have to return the dog, though.

2. I think she was arrested because she refused to return the dog...

But you are right. They should have arrested the dog's owner!
I already wrote protest letters to all the PA officials involved.

3. The 'owner' was criminally negligent.
I would not return the dog either. They '\wanted to euthanize him'.... it was just 'hard to do'... Okay, so they can save the $$$ it would cost and let him die chained up in the yard???

She did a very good thing.O8)
