What I really need is one of those little scooter things. But I don't know what I would do in bad weather.

It is really nice to have the prices down.

1. And media just hypes it up asking consumers what they are going to do
with the money they are SAVING!

I have heard 3 local reporters doing remotes at local gas stations, each of them spun this lower prices as an opportunity to save money.

I am sorry, this is not a savings, it is a relief on my bank account.

5. Gas prices tumbling and I just read a story on the front...
page of my newspaper that heating bills will be much less this winter. All of a sudden we have an abundance of oil and natural gas. Isn't that interesting right before the elections. Americans should be furious that this administration has been robbing their pocketbooks over gas and heating but right before a crucial election for the Republicans and the Bush administration they are now our salvation. How dare they manipulate us the way they have been, bringing such hardship on so many people and then when it suits THEIR NEEDS the prices miraculously take a nosedive. I am so angry over this issue and I wonder how many Americans are going to fall for it.

7. So heating bills will be down this winter?
Edited on Sun Sep-17-06 08:18 AM by Divernan
Does that mean that my Mom's nursing home, which raised it's rates $5 PER DAY, or $1800+ per year, PER RESIDENT to cover higher heating costs last fall will now REDUCE their charges? Hah! I won't hold my breath on that one.

8. I doubt it...
That was quite a price hike for your family to endure.

10. And none of the families dared complain about it, because they were afraid
the nursing home administration would take it out on the elderly residents. It reminded me of when my one of my kids got stuck with a notoriously ill-tempered, abusive teacher in fourth grade - parents had a real dilemma whether or not to complain. If you couldn't get your kid assigned to a different teacher, they'd be stuck with a vindictive teacher for the whole year. We generally waited until the end of the year and then complained in detail. The teacher who was near retirement age was reassigned to an administrative job.

16. Gas prices tumbling? - stock up, they'll be going back up after elections
regardless of who wins the house and senate.

9. A local gas station is at $2.12.9 this morning...
...Could the timing of this be any more obvious?...

I was not surprised to see all of the hummers and large vehicles gassing up like there was no tomorrow. I like the lower prices, at least it is a break for now. I agree with the probability that the prices will rise again after the election.

11. I've Been Thinking The Same Thing
I just can't imagine how gas could have been so high and now so low without there being some political agenda involved.

We do have oilmen in the white house - or at least oily men

13. Isn't it AMAZING how *China* STOPPED using oil all of a sudden?
Isn't is also incredible how QUICKLY the oil companies built those new refineries?

...and they must have fixed that Alaska pipeline in RECORD TIME!

...people must be driving 30% less and using much less plastic products!

...and I'm also thinking the "free market forces", in anticipation of the heating season, are assuming that people will set their thermostats at 50 degrees for the winter!

...and all the "terrorism" in Iraq is gone, and all the "international" terrorism is gone which would threaten oil supplies...

I mean, those ARE just about ALL the reasons which the "free market evangelists" have touted to explain why oil went up like 50%???

The problem for the Republicans is that, all of those conspiracy minded right wingers (Iraq was behind 9/11) WILL tend to see through this one...

17. And this is also what will probably save the GOP on Nov. 7th
from losing both houses only to have prices start rising again afterwards.
