US Imprisoned an AP reporter for 5 months - no charges

www.icasualties.org/oif/ Headline on the Right side. Also read the article just below it - US military now has a global network of prisons - holding 14,000. This is just great news.

But I guess it doesn't matter because he is an Iraqi. No charges. Just hold him as long as we feel like. What's a few months or years out of someone's life. Then you can just make them disappear or set them free and say "oops."

That is what is dangerous about sidestepping things like the Geneva Convention - or holding prisoners in secret jails. At first it is just for the worst of the worst - for our national security. Next thing we know its for a reporter that may have been reporting stuff that the govt. doesn't want to get out.

And then it could be because we post on DU instead of Free Republic.

We really need to get this adm. out of here - and quickly. I never thought that it would be possible for us to slide down the slippery slope so quickly - almost overnite. It's too scary.

have no right to bitch and complain. This is their government that did this.

Not mine. Al Gore and then John Kerry were legally elected to this office of President in my world.

Not a bunch of lying conniving thugs.

4. They are already arresting people for wearing the wrong t-shirts
at GOP rallies and fund raisers. Or acting strange around the Veep.

6.  Oh, I know. I think it is very scary!
And I'm an old Viet Nam War protester. We used to do all kinds of things and no one arrested us. Course it helped that there were so many of us - no way they could arrest us all.

8. The resistance to the current rise in fascism in this country has
been a hugh disappointment in comparison to what it was like during Vietnam.

5. Have you noticed Bush lately? How it is now his way or no way?
Its give him his way on the CIA stuff or there will be "no program."

He just has no middle ground. My guess is that he isn't smart enough to see that there is a middle ground. I'm not sure that people who see everything as black or white are really very smart.
