Clark: We invaded Iraq to cover up the command negligence that led to 9/11

Clark Brings Texas Democratic Convention to It's Feet with Rousing Speech by linking 9/11 to Iraq.

Clark spends several minutes blasting Bush for "command negligence" which he says led to 9/11, then culminates with this:

"Now why am I going back over ancient history? Because it's not ancient, because WE WENT TO WAR IN IRAQ TO COVER UP THE COMMAND NEGLIGENCE THAT LED TO 9/11 (crowd rises to it's feet in standing ovation at this point), and it was a war we didn't have to fight.. That's the truth, and I hope, (crowd going wild at this point) I hope every Democrat around the country sees you all on your feet aknowleging the reality of the world we are living in today thanks to the misleadership of this Republican administration. I've been in war, I don't believe in it, and you don't do it unless there is absolutely, absolutely, absolutely no alternative."

This is a great speech to watch in it's entirety, including a splendid introduction to Clark by a Texas supporter. It was about 18 minutes into the speech that Clark brought the crowd to it's feet by linking the 9/11 command negligence cover-up with Iraq. The rest of the speech is also very good, covering education, health care, the importance of science, and the corruption of scientists for political puposes..."That's not America, we could be so much more."

3. Ray McGovern: ''O.I.L.''
The patriot and former CIA analyst said the acronym is OIL.

It stands for Oil. Israel. Logistics.

Oil. Makes the world go round. Cough.
Israel. Who loves ya, baby?
Logistics. We need military bases near the black gold to keep them Russkies and Chinese away.

9. We need to clarify "oil" to be "expensive Arab monarchy OPEC oil"
Edited on Sun Sep-17-06 08:53 PM by nealmhughes
Saddam's main threat, as is Iran's, is the threat to spread their revolutions (Baathist and Iranian) outside their own boundaries -- how? By turning the throttle valve Wide Open to the oil flow!

Saddam is thus "Napoleon of the Arabs" and the Ayatollah Khomeini the "Napoleon of the Shiites", fiercely pan-nationalistic and secular in Saddam's case, Shiite and anti-Sunni in the late Ayatollah's; money for advancing their causes and the betterment of the nation, and overthrowingg the decadent monarchies. Horror of horror! Cheap oil by two of the largest exporters?

Iraq was the easy mark: too small to be much of a problem (yeah, right Wofowitz...and Rummy) and very close to the peninsula...a puppet government means "privatization" of the oil (brilliant Mr. Cohen) and continual jitters on the trading floors due to the turmoil in Baghdad. Then what? 3 new US bases? Not "holy" soil so no religious fervor from the ortodox Muslims...

The tying of 911 to Iraq was brilliant disinformation. We got pseudoscholars who are too lazy to teach and get their paychecks from Grove Norquist's bosses who want to make FDR the new Lenin and the whole Talibangelist schedule to tell us how Jesus wants us to KILL! KILL! KILL! or else the Temple can't be built in Jerusalem...and without war in Iraq/Iran the citizens of Tel Aviv will be ankle deep in seawater in a week: well, if the collective Arab/Muslim world wanted to march to Tel Aviv, there aren't enough bombs/bullets to stop them from enjoying the sights of the Tel Aviv waterfront with Arabic music instead of Western/Hebrew playing on the beach. Luckily, they haven't decided to do this yet...

25. This is the man that can win.
Of this, I have no doubt. His biggest hurdle will be to convince the power brokers in the party that he will dance to their tune, otherwise we'll get another corporate whore and things will just get worse and worse.

Is he the next "leader of the free world" or is he the next George Mc Govern?

18. I think they were negligent in order to have a reason to invade
both Afghanistan and Iraq, and to have a new threat to take the place of the communist scare.

Blocking investigations into terror financing is not negligence, it's on purpose.

I am convinced of it the more I hear him speak. He needs to be in some sort of leadership role, and I'd be more than comfortable with him as President. If he gets the majority of the military command on his side, it's over for the Pukes.

23. That's an overstatement.
"We" invaded Iraq because the Bushists had planned to invade Iraq from day one of their illegitimate administration. That it covered up their incompetence in the lead-up to 9/11 was an only incidental benefit for them.

29. That's what has converted me to LIHOP/MIHOP, they stated that
they needed a "Pearl Harbor" http://www.newamericancentury.org/RebuildingAmericasDefenses.pdf">(see REBUILDING AMERICA’S DEFENSES Strategy, Forces and Resources For a New Century) type event to solidify consensus in their favor. By sheer coincidence along comes the eldest(?) son of the BFEE's oldest and closest ally, that just happens to have been the recipient of millions of our CIA dollars, who just happens to manage to pull off a wildly improbable, coordinated attack, that some General (can't remember which one off-hand) declared to be comparable to winning 4 lotteries in a row, and he (OBL) just happens to evade the largest man-hunt in history, and then we coincidentally "find" intelligence that is used to lie us into, coincidentally, the very war they wanted to start in the beginning.

I'm too old, and have spent too much time around these people, to believe this series of coincidences hasn't been orchestrated and helped along with considerable effort. BTW, do you know what most of the people that think of themselves as the ordained rulers of Earth, think the biggest problem on Earth is? The answer is over population, I wonder what they've decided is the best way to fix it is?

that led Moore to endorse him?
Was it evidence of this profitable Iraq diversion from their LIHOP?

34. Yes, it is a good story....
It all started when General Clark stuck up for Michael Moore after that anti-Bush speech he gave at the Oscars....at a time when no one else would....

Mike tells the story here: http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/message/index.php?messageDate=2003-09-12

"Dear General Wesley Clark,

I've been meaning to write to you for some time. Two days after the Oscars, when I felt very alone and somewhat frightened by the level of hatred toward me for daring to suggest that we were being led into war for "fictitious reasons," one person stuck his neck out and came to my defense on national television.

And that person was you.

Aaron Brown had just finished interviewing me by satellite on CNN, and I had made a crack about me being "the only non-general allowed on CNN all week." He ended the interview and then turned to you, as you were sitting at the desk with him. He asked you what you thought of this crazy guy, Michael Moore. And, although we were still in Week One of the war, you boldly said that my dissent was necessary and welcome, and you pointed out that I was against Bush and his "policies," not the kids in the service. I sat in Flint with the earpiece still in my ear and I was floored -- a GENERAL standing up for me and, in effect, for all the millions who were opposed to the war but had been bullied into silence."

much more at the link....

30. I love the tone of the speech, but Iraq was planned BEFORE 9-11, so I
don't think it was used to COVER UP for failures in 9-11.

I think 9-11 was used to cover up for their Iraq intentions.

Failing forward is drawing attention away from your latest fuckup by doing an even bigger fuckup. Nuking Iran, f'rinstance, would really get people to stop complaining about the mess in Iraq.

Clark really hit the nail on the head. Godspeed Wes.

36. Clark's the Man
The very type the powers that be will not allow in the presidency because he'd work for substantial change. In other words a threat to the military industrial complex, like JFK was.

Ah the irony, a four-star general is a threat to the war machine built by chicken hawks.

...And the first warning of the military-industrial threat came from a General/Eisenhower...
