The issue is LAWBREAKING not LAWCHANGING. Dems, Congress, anyone.........?
Are any Democrats in Congress connecting the dots and pointing out the obvious? Or would that threaten Capitol Hill "decorum"?

DU seems all over the map this Monday morning-- while the Big Story might be the Repuglicans trying to change laws that a federal court ruled (on John Marc Karr Day) that this president had already violated.

Are the Democrats in Congress going to take this bull by the horns or go along with the script that BushRoveCo. has outlined for them? Are they going to pretend to forget to bring up that the issue is LAWBREAKING not LAWCHANGING (to retroactively allow IMPEACHABLE OFFENSES)?

1. They control the 'story' as always. There is NO compromise to torture.
Bush* has ALREADY broken the law.

5. GW Bush is breaking the law. The proper response is to prosecute the
law, not to change it.

I agree with you- this is the right angle. It highlights the GOPs outright corruption.

6. Even if the law is changed.
It was still broken, and not just any law, this is no freakin speeding ticket, in cases of torture induced death capital punishment is on the table.

A retroactive law cannot stand, it is unconstitutional. Force Bush to pardon them by prosecuting them.

I wonder what would happen if a bunch of us filed complaints with the FBI?

8. From the department of broken records (i.e., me)
No bill of attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed.
United States Constitution, Section I, Article 9.

(And they emphasized it in Article 10 by saying states couldn't do it either.)

"An ex post facto law is a law passed after the occurrence of an event or action which retrospectively changes the legal consequences of the event or action."

10. And if the law violated IS the Constitution, all the more reason to
not post ex facto. :patriot:

Problem here is though that there isn't much of any DISCUSSION about the fact that discussing changing the law is absurd under the circumstances. WHY DO THEY LET THEM GET AWAY WITH THIS SHITE? :wtf:

9. Exactly.
"Craft me a law that legalizes (ex post facto) my war crimes and my violating the constitution by spying on Americans" and give me that law now, damn you" George W. Bush.

17. But so much of DU poo-poos impeachment.....
because it might not be a good PARTY move.

Apparently holding lawbreakers ACCOUNTABLE for their actions isn't an admirable ethic anymore.
