it's a matter of adopting the right strategy and tactics, even if it means a lot of sacrifices. Even if it means that you have to retreat, to hide, to be silent a while or in the worst case make next generation win.

throwing yourself in front of a tank can be "heroic" but meaningless (except for myth-building). But patiently digging holes to put mines can be successfull.

4.  Both.
There are times when you need to win one fight before you can get to the next, and there are other times that you just need to draw a line, and the act of fighting becomes a victory.

(And don't worry--somebody did indeed pick up on the Aaron Sorkin/The American President reference. )

6. I was actually thinking on a personal level
should I run for Chair, cause we need a good chairperson, or should I run for secretary, cause I can win.
