because terrorism is exclusively Muslim...

Suspected abortion clinic bomb plotter arrested

Emily Lyons, a nurse, was injured in Eric Rudolph's 1998 bombing of an abortion clinic in Birmingham. She confronted him at his sentencing.

James Kopp was convicted last month in the shooting death of Dr. Barnett Slepian, an obstetrician-gynecologist who also performed abortions.

In one of the most dramatic images of the day, firefighter Chris Fields carries Baylee Almon, who later died of her injuries.

Here in Georgia, 13 year-old Josh Belluardo was fatally attacked by his 15 year-old neighbor, now serving a life sentence. The reason given by his young executioner, moments before the attack: "he's gay" and "gay people deserve to die."

I've decided against posting pictures of lynchings.

I don't know how many times I've seen that picture of Baylee Almon, but I didn't really get it's impact until now that I'm a father.

7. All of the pics (- the bombing) were based in CONTEXT
The context of the MSM driven story. The story may be unrehearsed, little understood. and possibly STUPID.....

But MANY strive to understand.

Why do you think there are so many AWESOME plays in the genre?

11. Who ever said it was exclusive?
Over the last few years the worst of the worst has been related to Islam.

That does not mean Americans see Islam as the only source of terrorism.

I remember the OKC bombing, and where I was and what I was doing. I remember the follow up being about how militias were out to overthrow the govt, christian fanatatics, etc.

I remember milita members at our store being afraid of backlash, as we those of foreign faiths here after 9/11. And I remember the calls for understanding and not hating, not talking smack.

And yet, I log onto DU and see that exact same hate for christians and other faiths. I see such faiths mocked and made fun of, almost daily.

No, it is not exclusive to islam. It is not exclusive to any one group. Nor are the issues we see here surrounding faith and life in general. When people elsewhere bomb us we find reasons why they should have and blame the US, when people inside the US do something we do the same.

When do we hold people responsible for their own actions and quit making excuses for them? Maybe Tim McVeigh felt christians were getting the raw end of the deal, and he acted on that. Still does not make it right. Same with islam radicals who flew planes full of innocent people into buildings.

13. Terrorists are being sold to Americans as brown men with beards.
When was the last time a planeload of passengers mugged a white militiaman or when was the last time an air marshal shot a white guy?

Please. The Republicans have figured out how to mobilize racism. And they are making billions off of hatred.

Who ever said it was exclusive?

From a current thread in GD...
You know the saying "not all muslims are terroist, but...."

Over the last few years the worst of the worst has been related to Islam.

A few folks in OKC might disagree with that.

I remember milita members at our store being afraid of backlash

Funny, I remember Muslims being afraid of backlash after the OKC bombing, since they were the first ones suspected.

And yet, I log onto DU and see that exact same hate for christians and other faiths. I see such faiths mocked and made fun of, almost daily.

I doubt you'll find a non-believer on DU more defensive of Christians than me. I don't mock faith. Fundies, yes. Faith, no.

When do we hold people responsible for their own actions and quit making excuses for them?

Kindly show me where I've made an excuse for anybody. I'll wait.

Umm, I did say over the last FEW years....Not talking the 90's.

I doubt you'll find a non-believer on DU more defensive of Christians than me. I don't mock faith. Fundies, yes. Faith, no.

And I am glad you do not, but quite a few do. I was talking about them, not you.

Kindly show me where I've made an excuse for anybody. I'll wait.

I said 'we' as in a general meaning of DUer's. Not all were included, and if you are not to be included, then it does not reflect on you.

I doubt you'll find a non-believer on DU more defensive of Christians than me. I don't mock faith. Fundies, yes. Faith, no.

And I am thankful for your support.

As a christian here I am often finding myself in a bad way. I am referred to as a nut who believes in fairy tales, etc. Why is that?

Convenient for your point, no? The 90s weren't so long ago, and 9/11 didn't make them any more so.

I am referred to as a nut who believes in fairy tales, etc. Why is that?

You should ask those who call you that. I argue with them too.

FWIW, I occasionally find myself in a bad way here as an agnostic who doesn't want to ban religion, even though I can't help but admit the brutal acts more than occasionally done in it's name.

14. Sri Lankan gov't condemns Tigers' killing of Muslim civilians
<snip>

"The Sri Lankan government Monday strongly condemned the killing by the Tamil Tiger rebels of 11 Muslim civilians engaged in repairing a sluice gate in the Eastern Province.

"The assassination of these 11 innocent civilians is a deliberate act of terrorism, particularly against the civilian Muslim population," said the Information Department in a press release.

The mutilated bodies of the victims, who were all brutally hacked to death, were found Monday morning in the sluice gate area in Rodwella, Pottuvil, about 300 km east of the capital Colombo.

The police Special Task Force (STF) which maintains the security in the area blamed the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) rebels for the attack, which occurred Sunday night in a place seven km into the jungle."

20. I'm a little bit confused
Your post puts mcveigh's idiotic slap at the federal government alongside those of horribly misguided religious zealots. It's almost like the aptitude tests where the question is "which of these objects doesn't belong?"

Your comment about lynchings doesn't fit either.

Terrorists from the ME share a feather of the same color: religious fanaticism. They share a common goal. And, while I can't be 100% positive, my gut feeling is that they also share a common support network, namely those found inside of radical mosques.

I'd bet my next paycheck that james kopp, eric rudolf, idiot mcveigh, and whoever the sorry fucker is that killed Josh Belluardo never had any common links with the bigots who lynched blacks in the south. I'd also bet that none of them knew the other perps existed. That doesn't dismiss the need to put them down in the same fashion that they subjected their victims to pain, suffering, and death. But to lump them all together in the way you did was a little disengenuous imosho.

Terrorism is NOT exclusively a muslim thing. I don't know who says with any degree of seriousness that it is.

Wow. Ok.

Sure it does. Starts with "t" and rhymes with "error".

"t" + "error" =

I don't know who says with any degree of seriousness that it is.

My response to that is upthread.

27. "Shock and awe" was textbook terrorism
Terrorism by definition is the use of violence to bring about political change by psychological effect on a population.

Calling it "Shock and Awe!" was up-front advertising that it was a terrorist attack perpetrated against the Iraqi people.

30. I Was Watching CNN & MSNBC Tonight ...
CNN's Jack Cafferty reported that a nebulous group conducted research whose conclusions are that radical Muslims are actively recruiting terrorists in American prisons. The nebulous group was mentioned once but it did not indicate a link, who was interviewed, what prisons were researched, or why the Department of Homeland Security was not notified of these purported findings.

Afterwards, I watched Tucker Carlson on MSNBC and he interviewed two people who repeatedly asserted that liberals are on the side of radical terrorists, that they view the USA as enemies, and that Democrats offer no solutions to the problems we face in society (naturally, problems created by Republicans).

Where's the liberal or Democratic response?

Why is such hate filled nonsense repeated on TV every single night without even a semblance of a reply from liberals or Democrats?

Is it any secret why the radical right is in control of the USA? They are in control over people's minds and they repeated hate filled lie after hate filled lie. But nobody bothers to answer these incredibly stupid and groundless charges!

WHEN WILL THE RADICAL REICH WING MEDIA BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ITS ENDLESS LIES???
