Gore, in speech, charges oil price manipulation
It is extremely important for us to be clear among ourselves that these periodic efforts to manipulate price and supply have not one but two objectives. They naturally seek to maximize profits. But even more significantly, they seek to manipulate our political will. Every time we come close to recognizing the wisdom of developing our own independent sources of renewable fuels, they seek to dissipate our sense of urgency and derail our effort to become less dependent. That is what is happening at this very moment.

4. Al Gore is correct as usual,
and hit this one out of the park. Whenever the momentum builds up to such a degree as to start a serious effort to wean ourselves off of our debt exploding, terrorist rewarding, planet killing oil dependency, the price starts dropping. Coincidence? I don't think so.

5. I really hate to say it.
I know it sounds elitist & God knows I am the last person in the world that has anything to be elitist about, but I am convinced there are an awful lot of stupid people in this Country. Perhaps the are just willfully ignorant, but they are perfectly OK with being manipulated and they will let by-gones be by-gones. Those high gas prices a week or two ago were in the past, everything is great now, isn't ole W a great guy, he "Jawboned" those rascals and got those gas prices down where they should be!

Just wait till those great jobs that are just round the corner he promised us get here...

Please excuse me now while I am sick.

8. I believe the election is related to objective 2,
it's easier for the enablers of the status quo, burning fossil fuels as if there were no tomorrow to stay in power and kill initiatives to wean our selves from this destructive pattern if gas is cheap. Manipulating the election through the pricing of fuel is just their means to an end of killing alternative fuel sources.
