Good for you. I'd like to make a documentary about people who've completely and utterly lost their faith in the god they were sold as children. It would be great to collect the various stories. My dad, for instance, dropped God like a hot potato after his own father died at an early age when my dad was young; others, I'm sure, simply wake up one morning and, apropos of nothing, dispense with their beliefs as one would a pair of soiled briefs.

but it wasn't until a friend lost her fiance when they were struck by lightning as they sat in a boat on a lake planning their wedding that I finally slammed the door behind me. There was nothing that hollow religion could offer me to explain the complete randomness and cruelty of life.

There were certainly other factors, like being unable to accept the misogynistic components and the idea of a god that would let his children suffer in hell for eternity because they didn't believe in him.

But I still suffer from PTSD 20 years later as a result of all of that nonsense in my childhood. I feel really sorry for these kids. I consider what these people are doing to them to be child abuse.

Have any of you seen the youtube video yet? Yikes. The director of Jesus Camp says she's *training* (read, "brainwashing") them to become jihadists for christ. She wants them to "lay down their lives" for jesus, in the same way middle eastern religious extremists do.
