I was reading the reasoning from CBS as to why they can't let Maher say anything he wants (in essence), and I'm thinking, even I as a Christian think this man has got the fraud church nailed with his wildly hardcore critique on them, but telling him he couldn't say "people that believe in a God are insane and need a crutch" or something over the top like that, but what's wrong with him ripping on the behaviors of the religious community? Isn't that what proper free speech discussion is all about? Sheesh, let him speak and take out the incindiery comments, which I don't believe he'd make knowing this wasn't cable.
http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2006/09/18/publiceye/entry2019910.shtmlThen I read this, "CBS is responsible for what goes out over its airwaves and there are obviously constraints involved. The broadcast could not air anything that violates FCC standards, for example, or anything that is factually untrue or libelous to an individual. And there are some opinions that would simply be irresponsible to air – racial, religious and otherwise."
Ummm, so CBS is responsible for what goes across their airwaves and so isn't ABC, also? So, I'd love to see a huge lasuit among the people who were slandered by ABC for that Path to 9/11 fable.
