Another Dragging Death - This time in Colorado
Woman Dragged To Death In Colorado
Police Announce Suspect's Arrest

POSTED: 11:18 am CDT September 20, 2006
UPDATED: 12:29 pm CDT September 20, 2006

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. -- A woman in Colorado was dragged to death earlier this week.

And now, authorities said they have arrested a suspect. Jose Luis Rubi-Nava, 36, of Glendale, Colo., was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder and was being held without bail in the Douglas County jail, Sheriff Dave Weaver said. The victim still has not been identified.

Weaver said Rubi-Nava, who was arrested Tuesday night, was the man pictured in a photograph found near the woman's body when she was discovered. Weaver did not say whether a woman who also appeared in the photo had been identified.

An autopsy report released late Tuesday revealed that the victim was alive when the killer or killers placed a rope around her neck and dragged her behind a vehicle. The coroner said she died from blunt force injuries and strangulation.

The woman's mangled, naked body was discovered along Surrey Drive near the Surrey Ridge subdivision, about 20 miles south of Denver, at about 2:39 a.m. Monday, police said.

1. Christ almighty what is WRONG with these people?
What kind of evil does it take to put a rope around someone's neck and drag them to death?

I'm very glad the monster was caught. Thank all the gods that ever were for idiots who leave evidence at the scene.

5. An Illegal immigrant was involved
An illegal immigrant has been arrested in connection with the dragging death of a woman in Denver.

The suspect is currently being held at the Douglas County Jail. His name was not immediately released. The victim was identified but her name has not yet been released.

Sources at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office tell News10 sister station, 9NEWS, the suspect is an illegal immigrant who works construction. They believe he was the boyfriend of the victim

7. The Boy Friend from HELL? OMG...them girls better learn how to pick um
In the meantime, if he is guilty....he should be dealt the same death she got...

Dragging him before a NASCAR Race crowd for 20 laps on TV oughta cure him from doing it again.

If sexual assault was involved and she was a beautiful Blonde white woman, Psycho Prosecuter 24/7, one each, Nancy Grace, will hyper-obsess on this during CNN Prime time till the cows come home. ;)

10. Who said anything about making it better?
Wow. Talk about reading between the lines or putting words into someone's mouth. Geesh.

11. Yup, sounded pretty dismissive.
As one whose child was kidnapped by an ex-husband, and so many people dismissed it as "domestic", and "after all, at least you know he's safe with his father" (nevermind that he beat me, and then the kid!), I get tired of this line of thought.

I don't imagine the woman's family is very concerned at this point whether it was "domestic" or "stranger".

She was tortured, and she's dead.

14. Bullshit.
As one who performs advocacy for abused women, I find your statement pure bullshit.

Others on this thread hinted that this was another dragging such as the racially-motivated one in Texas. I simply stated that it sounded more like a domestic violence case. End of discussion.

15. There is an ongoing game among posters here
to see who can be the most self-righteous, who can advocate for the most victims, and who has the most noble cause.

You were hit and run by it

16. Yup, bobolink takes the "most self-righteous" cake today
Edited on Wed Sep-20-06 03:18 PM by keepCAblue
I wonder how many abused women bobolink has helped escape violent domestic situations. I would never dismiss any "domestic violence" case as I was one myself--for 11 years. So bullshit-o-link can just STFU.
