This is an old film with Spencer Tracy and a very young William Shatner. We checked it out of our library for free.
When you see this film, you'll jump up and say, "Holy moley! That's what's happening NOW in America! This ain't America we're in, it's NAZI GERMANY!!"
Case in point. One theme that ran throughout the film was whether or not the Germans were aware of the death camps and torture. One man rose to the occasion and admitted the Germans knew what was going on, because many saw signs such as the death trains carrying dead bodies. The rest denied it, saying Hitler was saving Germany from disaster, was protecting the people, and was prospering the country. They said, "Let Germany have some dignity."
Like that awful time in German history, it's happening all over again. This time, it's America. Too many Americans adamantly DENY torture is taking place all over our globe care of our Fureher. They deny Bush has anything to do with it. "We're fighting a war on terror, Bush is protecting the people, prospering America, keeping us safe. If you're not for him, you're against him! Be gone America Hater! Heil Bush!"
The proof is all around us, and there's really no denying it. America tortures. Bush tortures. Bush continues to press for laws that allow for torutre, even as we speak.
If it comes down to Nuremberg II, this time in Iraq and this time with Bush on trial, what will the American people say? Will they bury their heads in the sand to preserve what little dignity we have left? Or will they face the fact that we had a monster in office who needs to be accountable for his crimes?
