can stand up at the U.N., in front of the whole world, and punk out the sitting President of the United States. It's a pretty shitty time when a U.S. President gets called the "Devil" by another world leader and people cheer it. You could maybe see Chavez getting away with that though. He's vilified in a way he shouldn't be, but that Ahmadinejad stuff hurts.

I'm no fan of the Bush Administration's policies and tactics, but it bothers me to see the reputation of our country slip so low. We're supposed to be better than this. Yeah, we have had our problems and made our mistakes in the past, but we have always been respected and loved.

The embarassment sitting in the White House has changed all that. I cannot wait until he leaves office. Then maybe this nightmare will be over and we can move on.

1. It is a sad day

And a humiliating one for W; I bet he's bombed out of his skull and raging or medicated to the gills right now after watching both speeches by Chavez and Ahmadinejad.

What disturbs me more than anything else is that W's crazy enough to use nukes in anger at a target just for the satisfaction of personal payback. That scares the shit out of me.

2. nothing would surprise me
if that dumbass did something like that, I would barely blink.

I am profoundly bothered that this guy represents Americans. Most of the world thinks Americans are idiots now because of Bush. He's a dumb American stereotype come true.

Nor would I. And how scary is that?

Also.

I could guarantee that 33% of the population (the one he has some weird spell over) would not blink an eye, either.

13. The idea of Chucklenuts causing a nuke exchange
is a truly scary thought. I'm sitting in one of the biggest targets in America - NYC. Like many here on DU I grew up during the COLD WAR. The fear of nuclear war was never far from our minds but I think we never believed that our side would start it. Now we have to fear that the man sitting in OUR White House might just be crazy enough and STUPID enough to get us all killed.

6. I concur.
I didn't support Chavez' comments; I was stunned by them.

Because I'm an American, and when he says that about the President, no matter how much I disagree with Bush, he's saying that to all of us, really.

I have so much respect, still, for the institution and the office of the Presidency. None for the man currently holding it, but yes, I agree that hearing Chavez and Ahmadinejad this week showed me exactly what we've lost in these six years... our dignity, our pride, our nation.

It makes me shudder. It's all happening so fast, it seems.

8. I hear you
i can easily understand why Iran's president said these things about Bush but the thing that upsets me besides the shit-tard is that they do not even have respect for America any more. this is concerning to me because when things do change we will have to battle up hill to reestablish why we should be respected.

11. I really do believe that as soon as a Dem team would be instated
the world would sigh a HUGE sigh of relief bringing in hope and optimism for at least collectively trying to find new grounds for diplomacy and hard debate.

Maybe I'm just naive and wishful thinking here! :D

10. I agree. I asked my husband if he thought that such diatribes
would have been made in the UN for Clinton, or Gore, or Kerry, Clark........

I don't think so.

Tragic, infuriating and just sad.

12. What Bu$h got, Bu$h deserved.
Bu$h can dish it out, but he can't take it. Yep, look for a puffy face, red eyes, and a hair-trigger temper today. And if you have Smell-A-Vision, don't light any matches if you see Bu$h breathing into the microphone.
