2. I am certain that this sort of element is always present in some form
or another in every generation (flat earth society types - a dangerous mix of religious fanaticism and distrust of science, with a dash of political manipulation and a generous heaping of both fear and self loathing).

10. Delusional was my first impression of them.
And all the women believe Jesus is their bridegroom. Now that really cracks me up.

12. Catholics used to teach that little girls wore white
dresses to their first communion so they could be brides of Christ. I don't know that they still teach that, but the little girls do still wear white.

15. Yes but what's the deal with the black habits?
I can't remember why they wear black.

16. Many of them don't wear black habits any more.
My daughter worked until just recently at a Catholic college in Miami and all the nuns there wore street clothes.

20. I know
I used to teach in Catholic schools. What I was wondering is if anyone can remember the symbolism of the black habits. I forget. It was something kinda odd IIRC.

4. Best to just laugh at holy rollers, since we can't force them to get
the psychological help they sorely need!

because we aren't saved.

6. You can find this link in the religion forum I believe
Edited on Thu Sep-21-06 08:03 AM by Wilber_Stool
but this site collects their opinions and has links to their message boards. This will scare the dog shit out of you. Like this:

"Basically, my goal is to purge the Earth of all things liberal. First through diplomacy, then by force. I theorise that in the grand scheme of things, that it is truly what Jesus would do."

8. they give me the creeps too...
but remember they have always been around... we are just exposing them more, which may be a good thing (sunlight disinfects and all thay, right?)

The zomby looks on their faces is what scares me.... The intro to the Jesus Camp movie gives me nightmares...I wish Christ would return and confront THEM! Somehow, I don't believe he would be pleased.

19. The fundies at RR have the Star of David
and the Israeli flag to show solidarity with Israel, not because they're Jewish themselves. They support Israel because they believe the establishment of a Jewish state is necessary for Christ to return to earth.

They're always carrying on about how much they love Israel, but the funny thing is, I don't think they really like Jews. I doubt many of them have ever met a Jewish person.

What they believe is that it's necessary for all the world's Jews to convert to Christianity when Christ returns or else they'll burn in hell (nice, right?). They see Israel as the means to an end, just another tool to be used to achieve their goals.

Deluded, much?
